Scott Simpson @ Pick 21?

Greetings to Melb Fans,

What do you think we should do with Pick 21? Trade it or keep it?

I would keep it and draft Scott Simpson. Simpson is a FF KPP and he is what we need to replace Neitz. A player that can fall our way to this pick.

Scott Simpson-194cm, 91kg-Dandenong Stingrays. (Fwd). Good contested marking forward who is a reasonable goal kicker. He has played a bit in the ruck as well but I am not sure he will be big enough to ruck at AFL level. Like Gaertner he looks like he is about to tear a game apart at times but it never really seems to happen. The way he moves around and plays I think he has a huge upside if he can find some consistency.

Thoughts?

Thanks for your comments. I also thought Toby Thoolan might worth looking. People tip that he can go around Pick 40's mark. Maybe Pick him up at Pick 37?

Toby Thoolan-195cm, 92kg-Bendigo Pioneers. Tallish bottom age kid who has played mainly Ruck and FP this year. Has a pretty good leap in the ruck and can win taps. He is pretty mobile and his pace is ok for a tall. His kicking is pretty good and he can kick it a long way. When he has been resting up forward he has managed a goal or two in most games but I think he could possibly work on presenting at the contest more as he doesn’t take a lot of contested marks.

Ideally, I like to use Pick 37 to trade for Prismall. It would be great if this happen.

That Toolan kid could only be drafted as a forward or we turn him into a key defender. White is one of the last of a dying breed of 195ish cm ruckmen so we don't want another. We want a 2 metre giant so if we are drafting for ruckmen we should get McEvoy.

I do like the sound of Simpson though. He has a good size and he and Newton would be our FF/CHF combination for the future quite likely. How big of a jump do you reckon it is between him and Henderson?

Pretty ironic that all the players mentioned in this thread in Thoolen, Simpson and Gourdis have all been delisted

Perhaps steering clear of these players was a blessing...

Thoolen was drafted, de-listed and then rookie listed and de-listed by the Pies.
