Hi,

I'm a Sydney fan, I was just wondering what you guys thought of Scott Stevens? I have tried to keep an eye on his stats (did he get injured against the bombers?) but just curious how you feel he fits in your team's structure and whether he will be a regular player for you.

Probably not.

His marking has been reasonable, but he is woefully inconsistent, drifts out of the game all the time, does not have enough bulk to play as a tall forward and his kicking is abominable.

A waste of a draft pick probably, might have been better taking a punt on youth, he adds nothing to our list.

I tend to disagree.

3rd round draft pick, tall with 3 seasons experience and some good AFL performances behind him, in a weak draft.

Doesn't sound too bad to me

He's a useful back up tall forward since our two best tall forwards are so often injury prone. Has looked good in patches - with his overhead marking being a highlight. Enough for me to believe he has plenty to offer.

We're yet to see him given a role in defence yet. Maybe this will be the week with Bassett and Hart injured, and Smart looking sadly past it.

I was worried that my be the case (floating in and out of games), he was like that in Sydney. Don't know that he was too bad a pickup for a 3rd round pick though...

He played in the backline in the Swans' final win over Port at AAMI last year, I am pretty sure it was his first run he had back there for us... he was pretty good and was thought of to be pretty unlucky to get dropped for the prelim against Brisbane.

Perhaps we should try him in the backline too, given that was the talk of where we would play him when he was recruited...
