There was nothing decent on offer in the ruckman stakes.

The likes of one of Loats, McKernan, Street or Allan would have just been a waste of space on our list.

The search for another ruckman can wait another year.

and Marsh isn't?????? At least Loats would have been a project player. A 22 year old who is still developing. Something Marsh isn't;)

Dave's right Stiffy. There's no point in replacing rubbish with rubbish.

Adelaide will keep looking until the right option comes up - but you can't invent one.

well call it fate, call it what you want but today I passed the Fox Footy channel and it had The Season That Was 2003 on.....just when I turned it on they were reviewing Sydney v Hawthorn at the MCG and as it happens young Scott Stevens was playing. They showed him kicking a goal.........funny really, you don't hear anything of a player until he becomes one of your own!

From what I've seen of Scott Stevens, he seems to be a very good kick of the football, especially in front of the big sticks.

17.8 for career is pretty good, about a racio of 2:1, which is impressive.

Carey's our most reliable shot in front of goal, but he's nearly 33, so Stevens will be a great fill in that position in 2004.

Hopefully he will get some games next year, and have more opportunities to prove himself.

for what its worth, I know Scott Stevens through friends and he was a Crow supporter when he was younger.

From todays article in the Sunday Mail he seems excited about playing for Adelaide (which makes a nice change when compared to other interstate recruits). He believes we are a real contender and he is very keen to have a good year.

From what I have gathered his real value to us is his versatility. I think he will be settled in defence, but he also has no worries playing as a forward. He could be a handy pinch hitter able to do a variety of jobs on tall opponents.

Well I have the lawsuit all written up and if he doesn't perform...

All that enjoyment is just a cover to make us like him so we won't sue him if he doesn't perform.

Yes I was really pleased to see that he appears to be excited about coming to the Crows. I always like to see enthousiasm and he appears to have lots of it! I look forward to seeing what this young Stevo can do.

Bull****!
Allan - AA ruck 4 years ago - traded for pick 60!
His salary would have been close to the minimum (Remember the kerfuffle he had with Carlton at the start of the year, when no-one would touch him?)

Surely we have made a play for him and farked it.

We were never going to get a ruckman that would walk into the 22 for next year. So we were looking for a replacement for Marsh. Could not have done any better than Allan for that. If you get lucky and he stays fit for the preseason, then he is in the 22 bloody quick. If he isn't, well Marsh is injured 50% of the time anyway.

I would love to know what was offered that was considered worse than pick 60 by Carlton.

We couldn't have offered our first two picks, we weren't allowed. The Swans got our third round pick. And our fourth round pick is #61.

So we could have only offered them a player.

Allan is an injury riddled hack anyway, I'm glad we didn't pick him up. The Bombers had their sights set on him weeks ago by the sounds of things.

I'm happy to stick with Marsh. He hasn't had much of a run in the last two years to show what he's made of, so I think all the criticism of him is a bit much.

That could have been easily fixed - I'm sure Sydney would have accepted your second round pick instead.;)

We didn't make a play for Matthew Allan......simply becuase he doesn't fit into our plans. We need a young ruckman - not an over 30 year old with injury concerns. He isn't what we require and that is why we didn't go for him.

Stevens will be in and out of the side like a jack in the box, a bit better than Schell but really a waste of time.
Give the guy a chance, who knows - he might be handy in defence or could hopefully take over Perrie's spot in the forward line :D

Has Scott Stevens cost Aidan Parker a spot on the main list?

He just might have.

I can't believe that Matthew Smith has survived while Parker didn't get his spot on the main list.

The respective SANFL performances of the 2 players say it all.

Parker looks like he would suceed at AFL level. Smith looks no hope.

This one's a mystery to me.
