Is it time to unleash Scott Welsh at full forward and give him the goal square?
Perrie is struggling a bit and while can be solid is not the type of special player that can rise to another level and produce the special things that we need to beat the top 3 teams.
I would still have Perrie in the team, possibly out at half forward next to Carey.
In our premiership years we always had someone who could produce the magic like Modra and Jarman. Welsh is the closest we have to that right now. Perrie is predictable and containable. When Scott Welsh is on song he is very tough to stop. A very quick player on the lead who can take a grab and is dangerous on the ground.
The only problem is he has not been in good form in recent weeks. Historically Welsh is better with game time. He needs a few games to get to his best. He has had that and could be ready to hit his straps. If we had others in form it would be a risk but we don't.
I would have Johncock alongside in the pocket. Personally I would just about write Stevens off for the year. He is another one too that needs game time to find form. He is a workhorse. He hasn't has enough game time and I can't see him finding it in a hurry.
Welsh is a key player and has slipped under the radar in terms of media scrutiny. To go places this year we need Welsh to have an impact.
