Sad to see as he was a great keeper for Club and Country..

IMO ..a bad move to try and play on after he got the "how's ya Father" fron Highbury but nevertheless he will be remembered as one of the Greats

Poor Davey Boy :( Wish he had retired as an Arsenal player but everyone will still remember him as an Arsenal legend.

Hope he returns back to Highbury now.

Nah, everyone will remember him for being lobbed by Ronaldinho in a World Cup Qtr final.

Still makes me giggle

Well done to Seaman on a great career. A fine servant of the Blue shirt in his time at St. Andrews he was always given a great reception every time he came back. Shame it has ended for him in this way but his achievements speak for themselves.

Yeah to people who have watched soccer for 2-3 years that will be it.

Very true.

Those of us who have watched the game longer will remember Nayim lobbing him back in the mid 90s.

Anyway, he was a great 'keeper, but he should have retired at the end of last season. It says something about Seaman that he was able to hold off all contenders for his spot in the Arsenal side for so long.

I've been giggling for 8 years after watching Nayim lob him from 45 yards.

hehe yeah that was great and kept me laughing for a very long time. But with the Ronaldinho lob I know almost every game after that I would be thinking that he would stuff up on a lob or on a corner. I recall him being very shaky at corners at the start of last season.

His first game for Man City was against Barcelona, and they got a free kick a few minutes into the match.

As Ronaldinho lined up to take the kick there was a very audible and very angry "stay on your line Seaman" from someone in the crowd followed by two fingers to the South Stand and much laughter. :D

Look at the highlights being shown on the tele (it is pretty big news) the Ronaldinho, and Nayim goals as well as Artim Sakiri's corner for Macedonia are being highlighted, but they are also given plenty of time to some of the great performances including the semi final of the FA Cup last year, still one of the best saves I have seen.

For us he started off poorly, but got more solid as the season went on. The press were all too quick to criticise innocuous errors (and on more than one occasion slammed him for not making a save that I doubt any keeper in the league could have made). Maybe a season too long but I am pleased that we had him at the club.

Best of luck in whatever you do Seamo, there would certainly be that coaching spot open for you at CoMS if I had anything to do with it.

I know. I was hoping we could have have found a few more million in the budget to buy a gun like Massimo Taibi from Atalanta. I've heard he is top notch.

Moomba i would have thought that the few extra should have been made available and to at least put in a bid for Paul Robinson. Some newspapers are saying that he will be made available at the right price. Leeds are in dire straights at the moment.

Chin up moomba ;), even the massives could find a better keeper than Calamity James.

I would have liked Robinson, although I don't think he is playing very well this season.

It is possible that Leeds didnt want to get rid of Robinson leading up to the 19th, if they get investment in the next few weeks the need to sell might be reduced. If he saves them from relegation, whats a few million.

It also looks likely that we will sign Icelandic keeper Arni Arason on a Bosman.

He's better than what we have available to us at the moment. For that reason I am not too bothered. Fee is rumoured to only be £1.5m as well, so not a horrible signing in my books.

From memory he was dodgy at Liverpool, fairly solid at Villa, and somewhere between the two at West Ham. I know it is very easy for a keeper to develop a bad reputation, but I am not one who thinks one or two bad errors makes a bad keeper.

On James, I'll reserve my judgement until I see how he organises our defence (our big problem atm), and takes control of his box. I know he is a great shot stopper, but great shot stoppers are a dime a dozen in this league.

I'd be more confident of having James in goal than the 40 year old Seaman.

No doubt about that!

Calamity is an improvement. The negatives are that despite his obvious talent, he was unable to keep the Hammers up last season. He will get no help from Sleepy & Dopey (Sommiel & Distain) but then at least he might be vocal enough to wake sleepy up!

He is England's number 1 & for all of his Calamity moments, he is an excellent keeper. We'll can only be improved by having him in the side.
