All that talk about fev was ****shit and im so glad because we have a forward you could potentially be better then jack Anthony. I know hes had a bad run with injury's but he is an absolute freak and will do wonders to our forward line.

Just have a look at that.

Sean Rusling + Pre season = Collingwood's Recipe for a premiership.

He just needs to get a consistant run without injury... but it isn't happening atm.

he has always been one of my favourite players and someone who i think is more important to our flag chances than just about anyone. we need the rus to fire, he's just so talented

I was worried Rus might have got traded but I'm relieved the club has stood by him. This guy is an absolute star that's yet to really shine...

BUT is he over his injuries now?

when hes got a full pre season he will fit into our foward line quite nicely
HF: Medhurst Cloke Didak
FF: Rusling Anthony Dick

Solid prospect....over rated to hell by some on here though imo. His reputation seems to grow the longer he stays injured.

fair point

when he was playing a few seasons back... there were lots of criticisms about his ability to pick up the ball below his knees... but that seems to be forgotten now...
we also need to remember that he needs LOTS of space to work with...

Rusling's image on this board is now = ultra-fast, straight kicking forward with strong hands who is impossible to stop on the lead

If we play him as a defender i think he is wasted..

Top mark, great pace and looks to have okay skills..
I can't see him getting a game before Reid, the Browns and Presti so will definitely need to play at FF if his career is to resurrect..

That first bit is funny, its like saying, that young cricketer, he's a gun, he could potentially be better than Paul Nobes!

Then the video. Oh my sides. I counted the one mark replayed 5 times from different angles. I could do exactly the same with a Courtney Johns tribute video and get 5 minutes out of it.

Even though it's a trollish kind of post, it's not too inaccurate.

john anthony just kicked 50 goals in his second season playing afl. essendon would kill for a young forward like that, while they flounder with duds like jay friggin neagle.

and it's a big if... if MM plays him forward....

This^^.

MM stated earlier in the year he was unsure if we would see Rusling ever return to the forward line...

True to his word Rusling didn't play forward, when he played VFL despite a poor showing down in defense.

I hope to hell MM allows Ruz to go back to being a Forward, he (when fit) would be the best on our list in that position.

Sean Rusling's future?

Guaranteed. :D

To be honest, it is just about at the stage where if Rus even does a hammy, he is gone. Certainly anything any more serious than this and he is gone.

If he does not play 16+ games next year (across seniors and reserves) I would argue that he will get the boot. Unless those are some seriously seriously good games...

Things will be fine KW.

Rus was cotton-wooled last season.

He is definitely in our starting 22 plans for round 1 next season.

We have all seen his talents in the minimum games he has played. Basically, having come out of trade week with our list in tact and gaining a quality ruckman, Rus will be like a new recruit next season.

So long as he somehow manages to stay fit, I absolutely agree with you.

Rusling has been earmarked as our natural FF for a long time. Injury has prevented it but when on song, he is a vital dynamic up forward.

Think back to finals 2007. Other than being well held by Chick in the Semi-Final against WCE, Rusling was impressive and our forward line functioned the best it has since Tarrant left. Funnily enough, that's when Cloke played his best football.

Go figure.

Spot on.

Cannot wait until next season.

A three pronged key attack of Cloke-Rus-Jack.

Looking back at 2007 in that finals series, Rus just seemed to draw the ball in almost every forward entry.

The numbers were massive. There was a stat somewhere that in the 6-7 games Rus played from R16 (or thereabouts) that year, he was the #1 target inside 50 in the entire comp. Moreso than Fev, Brown etc.

We have high hopes for him and he has been earmarked as "the great white hope". This bloke could win us a flag off his own boot IMO. Big call, I know, but his potential is endless.

Absolutely right. :thumbsu:

The thing with Rusling is his speed off the mark. That and him being the focal point means it straightens everyone up and they feed it to him first and foremost.

Takes the heat right off Cloke and gives the Half Forwards and midfielders an automatic target. As good as Jack has been, his pace and smarts are not as quality as Ruslings playing in that particular position. Pretty much because he is a defender and was recruited as such.

It's a massive call heaping so much hope on Rusling and I have serious doubts about his fitness and maintaining it. That said, IF he can, I'm under no illusions about his talent as a key, leading forward. It's matchwinning stuff. The club knows it too.....otherwise he'd be gone already. No doubt.

Best of luck to Sean getting back next year and staying fit and firing. :thumbsu:

This kid when fit would dominate the backs at your club like hurley (if he plays back) .
i think someone just jealous cause we have more forward targets then essendon. Alot of essendon supporters believe jay neagle is a dud.

I only watched the VFL team during the finals, and don't remember seeing him.

I google "sean rusling VFL 2009" and the only info besides injury this, injury that is:

2:01 PM Mon 17 August, 2009
2. Sean Rusling (2k, 1h, 1m, 1t): Played his comeback after a long layoff. His purpose was to get through the game. He played 60% game time and showed some good signs but more importantly pulled up well today.

The Collingwood website has zero articles from 2009 mentioning Rusling.

Get back to me when he can raise his arms above his shoulders.
