Good afternoon purple punters,

It is with equal parts delight and trepidation that that I share with you the return of one of the highlights of each season on the Fremantle board - the Game Previews!

For those who came in late, game previews have been a mainstay on the Freo board since 2017 when Righteo gave the board our first taste of Champagne Previewing. And in four of the intervening seasons many of us have saluted in the most creative of ways. From the poetic melt of Arcassius in 2017, to the * magpie noises * of 2018, the audio-visual Mayne course provided by Chef TheInjuryFactory in 2019 and the frothy inspiration provided by Square Peg last season, the Freo faithful have collectively given great effort in the pursuit of providing the board with knowledge, wit, creativity and half-arsed prophecy.

And now it's your turn.

If you think that you have what it takes to provide your fellow Freo fans with a preview for one of this season's games, or if you've done the needful in the past and thought to yourself "I'm ready to serve my community once again", then now's the time to put your hand up and claim a slice of the 2022 AFL season as your very own to preview.

The criteria for previewing remain the same:

• Reply to this thread to sign up for any match you'd like to preview in the upcoming season. First in, best dressed, so if you want a specific match try and get in early, and I will update the below fixture accordingly;
• There is no criteria to sign up apart from being a Freo board poster, you don't have to have been a poster for a long time or have made a lot of posts, but just make sure you're in a position to write one when it's your week. If you can't do it when the time comes, let me know and I'll probably sort out a suitable punishment and/or replacement;
• Have fun with the preview. Make it interesting, it doesn't have to be written under a certain guideline or include x,y,z- write it the way you want, use pictures, videos, whatever. A good dose of humour never hurts either;
• This is a competition, so previews judged the best by your peers (most liked, how else do you quantify "best" on the internet??) will join Arcassius TheInjuryFactory Square Peg and yours truly as official Fremantle Posters of the Year, and will receive a shiny badge that looks like this:

Just want to reassure you all that I haven't forgotten about this. Putting up the poll for best Game Preview is on my To Do List, but for now go to the OP where all of the links are and peruse what was written this season.

Welcome back everyone.

So I finally found my To Do list from a while ago, and written in red between "Mow the back yard" and "Get your act together" is "Wrap up the Game Preview thread" which I must have overlooked. Boy is there egg on my face!

We ended up having ten game previews this season, all of which were awesome! A huge thank you to everyone who put the time and effort in to provide a piece of art which absolutely enhances the experience of many people on this board!!!

And now we get to the pointy end of the thread - the voting for your favourite game preview. As is tradition, the game previews up that progress to the final vote are selected based on the number of reacts that they receive. Usually it's the OP but in a couple of instances such great effort was given that the preview extended over multiple posts so cumulative reacts were tallied.

It's now over to you Freo faithful - please take the time to have another look at each of the five game previews, figure out which one you like the most and vote in the poll at the top of this thread. I'll keep the poll open until around the time of draft at the end of this month (which also coincides with the Victorian state election) to give as many people as possible the chance to cast their vote.

I'd very much like to encourage you to participate in the vote so that you can show your appreciation for the people who put the effort in to create the game previews. Plus as also is tradition, the mods will put on a sausage sizzle for everyone who votes.

Watch out for hungry hungry Snuffaluphagus though, he'll eat anything. Poor old Van_Dyke got his hand in the way and got a finger bitten clean off!

Good news punters! I've given up on waiting for votes so we're good to go. A big thank you to the 18 people who voted on their favourite game previews for the year, you're good eggs.

Now to the results.

Guys, because of the outstanding efforts from dockerfemme vidwhal Piggy Smalls Gekko71 and Falconista this was tight. Like REALLY tight.

All finalists were within four votes, with the top four within two votes. Here's the podium...

In third place, one solitary vote off first, was Falconista and his round 16 preview vs Port Adelaide!

"Wait on Bob, what do you mean third place was one vote off first?" I hear you type. And that's a fair question because in a Freo Game Preview first, we have a tie! Which means Mt Postmore has had a sh*tton of work done to incorporate two more people, and more importantly it means that BOTH Gekko71 and Piggy Smalls are winners of this season's Game Preview vote and have been endowed with the Freo PoTY badge!
