Thirty seasons huh, a true testament to Mobbs for keeping this league going for so long.
Looking back to early seasons, the league was very little to begin with. Not many players, not many games, not many posts, but fast-forward to today and there is 12 teams with over 300 players playing each and every week. The media and match threads now are plentiful, and the level of engagement is ever-growing.
The Gumbies week one loss to the Roys was heartbreaking, going down by a mere 5 points, likewise their opponents this week, the Demons. They are coming off a very disappointing loss as well, after fading late to lose to the Bears by 8 points. The Gumbies squandered a 3qtr time lead last week, kicking just the 1 goal to 4 in the final quarter, something that will need to be addressed during the week. Taylor (20 touches and 6 marks) and Spuddd (25 touches and 3 tackles) were the shining lights in an otherwise bleak display from the Gumbies. They need a lift out of their midfield, with players such as omgfridge (7 free kicks against), Riviat (just 8 touches and 4 tackles) and GWS Goose (only 14 touches) needing to lift this week if the Gumbies are to win. For Mt Buller last week, my man Van_Dyke (27 touches, 6 marks and a goal), AIDS patient DemonJum (17 touches, 11 tackles and 2 goals) and my goal kicking hero Tarkyn_24 (5 goals from 6 kicks) were the highlights in a game they really should have won. Thetrader15 was also very handy up forward with 4 goals from 5 kicks. Proper Gander was down on her usual form and will be wanting to have a larger game this week and if so, I can see the Demons getting the points in this one.
My tip - The hungry Demons to be too quick for the Gumbies - Demons by 30 points
