Does anyone know of any second-hand book shops in the Melb CBD?

In particular i am looking for:

Pride & prejudice - Jane Austen
Gret Expectations - Charles Dickens

I know I can get them from Dimmocks, etc, but i love the pitures used on frnot covers of classic novels! :D
And i can prob get them cheaper at 2nd-hand book shops - which is even better!

CBD I'm not sure about ... but there's a good 2nd-hand book shop on Chapel St in Windsor, and another on Glenhuntly Rd in South Caulfield (near Hawthorn Rd intersection).

Actually I remember there IS a 2nd hand booksup in the CBD, I think its on Eliz St on the east side, perhaps between Collins and Little Collins .. andway, pretty sure its between Bourke and Flinders. You gottah go downstairs to browse.

IIRC you live near Footscray HIH.

If you still do try Dennis Books in Dennis street Footscray. Its near the corner of Barkly street and Droop street. They have a huge collection of 2nd hand books.

I don't know the exact location but I was in that very bookshop last August when I was in Melbourne! Very unusual to have most of their books downstairs in the cellar area. They didn't have a good range of sporting books although they would probably have the old classics your looking for.

There's one on Flinders St, somewhere on the opposite side of the road to the station isn't there? I know there used to be one there, and it was actually pretty good. Picked up a rare John Lennon book in there very cheaply. ;)

I don't know the name, but it's probably still there. On Flinders St, between Swanston and Elizabeth Sts, in there somewhere. :)

There's also another one in the vicinity of Parliament House, overlooking the MCG, if I'm not mistaken.

I keep seeing it in my mind, but cannot recall the name of the place, nor the street it's on. I only know that the Circle Tram goes right by it.

Other than that, I'm sorry I can't be much better help. :(

There's one on Swantston Street between Collins and Bourke, although I usually find it fairly expensive. (actually I'm usually quite disgusted by any second hand book shops prices, but then I'm a poor student, so, it's really probably not their fault.)

Thanks to everyone who replied.:)

I alook forward to pulling on my jacket with the elbow patches and browsing the dusty books with that wonderful old book smell.

I hate uni holidays :D
