Second Moderator

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

This is a democracy (I think) and as such I leave it open for you loyal Blues faithful to consider who you might like as a second moderator if we were to get one or even put your hand up yourself.

The idea is to keep the boards friendly for Blues fans (i.e we don't have to put up with opposition crap) and help to inspire conversation.

Anyway, nominate or be nominated and all options will be considered. If you wish, you can also PM me your nominations. Anybody that has expressed interest before, please restate your interest for the benefit of all but rest assured you have not been ignored.

Thanks
ODN

Sorry Thrawn - that rules you ineligible. Everybody knows mods are just on a power trip.:D

Whilst everyone knows I love my bluebaggers with a passion and I'm all for as much Carlton content on the net as possible, regretfully I must decline the nomination to inspire conversation on this messageboard. I hardly get the time to inspire TBV these days with the biz and all, let alone this board. I think there's enough Carlton messageboards on the net anyway, what we really need is a gun website with pics, articles, information at the fingertips sort of like FTO was for the pies. If anyone is interested in forming a site such as that, let me know, we can join forces. *cough* ODN *cough* do you hear me?

ODN, what exactly is expected from a moderator and what is involved in being one? I wouldn't mind being a mod on this board, but I'd like to know what I was expected to do and how involved it all gets. :)

Somehow I don't think Bluemark's comment was that serious but it's nice to see your acceptance speech anyway. :D

Tough one. A level head first and foremost. The ability to type what you really want to say, then edit it before you hit that submit button. Seek out issues that you think will inspire others to post in reply, respond to others threads to reward their efforts and further conversation. The moderating bit is really to edit, delete and mediate where things get a bit heated and threaten to make the boards an undesirable place to be for existing posters and for potential new posters. Sounds easy doesn't it?

I do not have to spend a lot of time in here at present but at times the creative juices are missing and the conversation stalls. Of course as this new person (should we get one) would be a co-moderator and we would both be expected to confer with each other over any major poster problems where possible and consult with administrators over bannings etc through PM's or on the moderators board.

Bear in mind, this decision is not mine alone and no favourites will be played. Issues like why you would like to do it, time you are prepared to put into it and merit based on your relationships with fellow posters are taken into consideration.

Please continue to put your names forward.

Nothing presonal intended by this, just wanted to say I never edit bugger that what I want to say gets typed and submitted some people might do rollyeyes and say "we know that deej thats your problem" but not everyone likes to read sanitised opinions and I consider myself a very straight forward honest person. Maybe that's a problem with TBV? Too full on? Not censored enough? Baah to censorship and ****ing in people's pockets, I always wanted TBV to be like standing in the outer at the G, no holds barred.

Interesting.
Elaboration optional ...

Actually quick edit .. the thought just crossed my mind that you might mean this second moderator thing is a reaction to something someone else is doing elsewhere????

I have asked Bluey for a second creative body around here for a while but it is up to me to present the idea and see what happens. Nothing to do with anything else I assure everybody. In fact apart from reading about a dozen or so threads elsewhere most nights, I pretty much steer clear of all administrative happenings. I moderate here because I enjoy being part of the moderator group who are a decent bunch of people and do what is right for BF while on BF and put aside my own interests in the process. As for the 'friendly' rivalries between various Blues sites, at the moment I have barely the energy to stifle a yawn. Firmly agree with the often raised assertion that we need to be heading in the same direction for the club's sake as far as presenting a happy front for the supporter base and the pettiness and byplay was fun in the first place but has lost its novelty value.

Yeah but as BigFooty has a main board where vast representation from all clubs trade blows, the club boards are considered a haven from the trolling. The editing I refer to is more doing away with the hundreds of 'Bloos suck' and 'you are a bunch of cheats' posts with nothing further to even resemble reasonable debate. Considering these guys would be banned from TBV most of the time Deej, I suggest we are a lot closer on this than you think?

.

Not at all ODN . . . come now!!

Merely commenting on a continuing pattern of action and reaction I notice among various threads.

You know sometimes the obvious escapes me. I look far deeper and analyse things far more than they need to be. Reread the thread and it clicked .... finally. :o :)
