Stop immediately associating Collingwood and/or Collingwood supporters with every politically incorrect sign or action at the football.

Moron journalism.

Decent editing. Hope people appreciate the fact the media hating is warranted. How do they know it was not some ignorant bastard from Ninthmond that put it up? Not beyond them, given they employ blokes like Dustin Martin. Just look at his old man :drunk:

Doesn't have to be either side. There's a nice article doing the rounds about Richmond supporter thrown out.
Politics like that don't deserve a place on the sportsfield.
FWIW my thread got locked as things got a bit heated, no doubt this one will go down the same path.

Yep, already been confirmed he's not a Pies supporter.

Disgusting anyway.

Maybe one of the hack journo's could write a story about the Collingwood supporter who tore down the racist banner.....
Not that that would ever happen.

The whole country is contaminated by shit journalists.

Our journalism is bad, but Britains has to be worse.

The amount of times I've heard that Mourinho is going to manage Man United in the last few months.... Just ****ing do the deal already! Stop teasing me British media.

Imo, Journos know **** all and just spend half their day sitting around a round table congregating up bullshit with one-another.

And the really good ones (admittedly there are not many of them) stand out like beacons

There are good journos? I always thought there were only two types: The biased and the slightly less biased.

I have a real need to share......

I made a comment last week about the fox and channel 7 interviewers post game. They ask these long-winded questions where they demonstrate all their knowledge and all the player/coach being interviewed can do is to agree.... self-promotion gone overdrive. Of course, it's a sign of the times that everyone has to show the world how much they know.

I was out this morning listening to sports radio in WA. The "expert" broadcaster was interviewing the "amateur" writer from some media organisation - i didnt take much notice. They were talking about amateur footy and the expert radio man wanted to demonstrate just how much he knew about all the amateur teams in the competition and what wins meant to them etc etc. All he left to the guy who he was interviewing was an opportunity to grunt and agree. This happened for a series of 4 or 5 questions. Why even do the interview? I asked myself.

I had a general feeling this was happening before last week, but now I make a point of actually listening to the questions that media people are asking. It's happening in press conferences with the coaches.... just about everywhere. Instead of simply asking "how do you think Cloke went?" they go into a giant list of stats and thoughts about how he showed a lot of effort etc etc etc.

Why did i post this? Cos I literally hate most of the smelly pieces of crap who are commenting on our great game..... ( notice - simply open ended question allowing the responder to give his thoughts on the subject)

now i can return to cleaning the toilet..

Totally in agreement, Andrew Maher is one of the biggest offenders, he asks such long winded questions that be answered by a yes or no.
I have mentioned this in another thread. Stopped listening to SEN (Melbourne) sometime ago.

Another one that annoys me is the screeching that goes on for a mark or goal (of the year) yet I have been at the game or if only watching it on TV, nothing special about it. Just tell me positions and who is playing on who and what part of the ground the ball is and I am happy.

None of them are Jack or Lou that they think they can get away with it. With them it was fun trying to figure out where the ball was and who had it.

well what you're talking about is a generational thing. There was a time long long ago in a faraway universe where young men used to judge their demeanour by how composed they looked. The advent of the american role model has changed all of that. I suppose it all depends on your point of view. Sometimes, I feel a bit jealous of young men who can stir themselves into a frenzied fit of happiness. Other times, I'm not so sure if they havent graduated from an acting class.

the thing about andrew maher is that it isnt about showing the world how much he knows.... it's because he approaches asking question as a task of completing a number of things
1. asking the actual question
2. not offending the person being interviewed
3. not offending any person from any group, action, task, environment who might or might not be within the given radius of the question
4. not offending animals or plants in the vicinity
5. not offending his mother
..there's about 234,267 other things to be considered...

Getting off the self promoting journalistic questions for a sec'. I'd love it if I could watch a Pies vs Hawk game without having to listen to Bruce Mcavaney say "Oh Poppy" like he's getting a really sensual back rub from the bloke (keeping it PG for the kids ;) ).

Great topic.
The worst thing you can do as a media type is try to be the story or make it about you.
Maggie5 i listen to Sen and will do so mainly because an all day sports station like that needs support, we're so lucky to have it.

But that doesn't means they are not irritating at times.
Now to group them: SEN types so either permanent or special comments.

Group know nothings (maybe their own sport): Andrew Gaze, Mark Allen, Steven J Peak, Tony Sibecci.

Group know lots of things: Mark Fine, GBU crew, Stephen Milne (not the player), Troy Zantuck. Tim Watson.

Group Might know things but still very annoying: Francis Leach, Rohan Connolly (it's ALWAYS about him), Kevin Bartlett (really his own category), Terry Wallace (that voice), Andy mahar

Group Loveable Clods: David Shwartz, Daniel Harford (knows some things)

Group arrogant types: Patrick Smith, Mick Malthouse, Dr Turf

Group good commentators: Andy Hudson, Dermott Brereton (though can have very long ended sentences)

Might have missed a few.

If Danny Frawley ever joined SEN he'd be straight in with Andy Gaze, yikes

The new 24 hour FM sports station might have a huge impact on SEN

Did anyone hear Bruce, while commentating the footy, mention how pavlova has a lovely rear end, or words to that effect?

I'd love to see the reaction this might get if its done during the wafl games. But then again, I dont think Bruce will get as much enjoyment watching the ladies do their thing.
