I'd like to say that I agree with you on these minor post counts. I think 1000 should be the lower limit of looking for a bloody pat on the back.

Aww, come on, I at least wanna do one for my 500th! It's taken me 13 months to get there!!! LOL talk about a pissy total.

I reckon you should be able to congratulate yourself.....I mean, numbers like 100, 500, 1000, 2000...they're milestone numbers! Some people put a lot of effort into getting that post count!

If you wanna stop people from celebrating such "low" counts, then, why not stop people from celebrating 18th, 21st, 40th, etc birthdays? A milestone is a milestone.

Wait till four figures until you say anything...
ahh, so you can't have an opinion til 1000 postss either hitter? ;)

I dont beegrudge anyone their milestone posts, in fact, I posted a thread titled 'gay milestone thread ahoy' myself, in the freo forum a while back - the title may give away my thoughts on the matter :)

But to claim someone's opinion isnt worth while til they have had 'x' many posts is rather sad IMHO.

Anyone notice that it's generally the 'peanut gallery' of 12-15 year olds who like to pat themselves on the back? I know there are some good young posters here, but generally the annoying threads come from this age group.

Before you come here berating me as either grumpy or ignorant, I basically couldn't give a stuff what half of you think anyway. :D

Have a nice ****in day

I think what the Mase is trying to say is the amount of posts represents the amount of time that you have spent on the site, not the number of days you have been registered for, anyone can register and then not post for months, or years, but you wouldn't say that they are more respected than someone with 1 or 2 thousand posts - that may have only been on for 6 months.

I still think you should consider the quality over quantity and luckily every single post, by me, has been pure quality.

Who gives a rat's tossbag about post counts?

There are some posters with <300 posts who's comments I would rather read than others with 1500+.

Getting x amount of posts doesn't win respect if 90% are garbage.

Any post which mentions a Homer quote goes straight to the top of the pile. :D

Touché brother, touché!

While I agree that post counts are irrelevant to the quality of a poster and their contributions, I can't see any harm in doing a little celebration.

Most of them can be identified as a self-congratulatory thread from the title, so if they put you off, just don't read them I suppose.

I'm guilty of "celebrating a milestone", but I did try to make it a worthwhile exercise.

I never said that Kuepper. You are starting an argument which I never entered upon. I said don't sayanything (meaning start a congratulationary post) until you hit four figures, not have an opinion.

Apologies hitter, i went back and re-read ya post, and whilst ambigous, I now get where you are coming from - apologies.

Now, if we can just exorcise those Freo hatred demons from you, we'll be on the same page my good man! ;)

Thank god for Hot Streak re-runs.... :D
Maybe Burgo and Adriana could resurrect It's a Knockout...

No, a certain number of posts doesn't mean you are any better a quality poster. Yes i have posted congratulatory posts, no i don't feel bad about it.
I guess the main reason people do it, is it makes them feel good to read posts from others congratulating them about something, it makes you feel good about yourself. A lot of people do it now, and yes it is getting to a bit of an extreme with peole doing it for their 50th etc, and probably soon some idiot will do it for his 38th post, or 69th or something.
It doesn't bother me, if you don't like it don't read it, its no real problem, but i do understand where you are coming from D4E, whether people do it or not I don't think matters, overall there is no derogatory effect.

Santos, i'm glad you added there are a lot of good posters from 12-15, when i first joined i was 15, and i HOPE i am not an annoying poster. I am now 16, so i don't fit that category:D:cool:

The beauty of this thread is that people will now feel a little stupid posting self congratulatory posts :D I should have posted this up a lot earlier ;)

I won't when I hit 3000. I'm putting some effort into mine, another humourous attempt at an article, and I will have a clean concience. :o :p :)

Only 72 to go... ;)

Yes its been axed. The episodes that have been on for the last few weeks have been repeats.

I think I'm missing the point here.

For those of us who DO celebrate our posts in the 1000's particularly, it's mainly a running joke from the days when there were way less people round here and we did stuff like that as kinda a fun thing.

What amuses me more is the people who complain about it and spend endless posts whinging..........if it's as boring as you say, why do you all sit around and bitch about it so much? For me, if something's boring, I can't be bothered even thinking about it.

Or you have friends like myself and QT who have been going each other about our post counts for the best part of a year now. The lead changes so dramatically. :D LOL ;) Why do we do it???? Who the hell knows. Do we go offline and worry about it??? Nup.

Newer posters have just caught on to the old traditions and that's cool as far as I'm concerned. For those of you who don't enjoy it, don't read it. I see threads on here that bore me, I don't bother looking. Pretty simple really. :D

Why is it?

The amount of posts you have shows how logn you have been around.
I am sure you judge them by their merit. But if a person have been posting quality posts for 10000 posts, then you are going to respect them somewhat.

You might respect somebody who's done 10 000 quality posts, but when people celebrate a number it doesn't tell us whether they're quality posts. People do the milestone thingies even if they post rubbish
