BTW Daniel Harford has just said that Graham Polak's prefered clubs at this stage are either Richmond or Carlton.
Not saying that Harf is right, but if so, so much for that theroy that no one wants to play for Carlton :)
I'd be happy if we lost T-Bird cheaply if we got Polak via PSD.
Frankly we don't have Freo anything at all and Richmond has cap trouble as well, so basically we could get him for nothing if this is true.

Wont get him PSD IMO...As i dont think he'll walk if no trade is done.

Use him in a 3way involving Thornton. Everyones happy..

YEah the thing is though, we have vultures circuling the carcass of Carlton ATM trying to poach our youngsters like Jordan Russell etc.
FWIW I'm happy for Thornton to go to the Hawks for just a 2nd rnd pick for his services if it means we get Polak via PSD for free.
Other clubs are treating Carlton with contempt, so why should the Blues bloody give Freo any favours by giving them an good pick or player if we could get Polak for free.
Because Polak is out of contract, and Carlton have the first pick in the PSD, we are in a very strong position to get Polak for free.
I'm sure if Polak wants to come to Carlton or Richmond, and a deal can't be struck with the Tigers, we'll be seeing Polak in a Carlton jumper next year :)
Polak isn't leaving for financial reasons, he wants to get a regular game, and we badly need him, so he won't nominate a ridiculous figure for his services if he goes via PSD.

Carlton in : Polak, Pick 23

Carlton out : Thornton

I'd be going for that if I was Carlton
Pity, well for Freo if they were interested in Thornton, that Thornton would need to sign the transfer papers (remember all three parties must sign). Latest article on afl.com.au appears to suggest only 2 options ;
a) A stipulated one year contract with a high salary
In that event, it's understood that Thornton - in an attempt to sway Carlton from re-selecting him - would up his financial requirements in the Pre-Season Draft and stipulate a one-year deal that would leave the door open for him at the end of 2007.
b) A trade to his preferred club
"We've had further conversations with (Thornton's manager) Anthony McConville and he has confirmed Bret's willingness that he wants to leave Carlton and come to Hawthorn," Pelchen told afl.com.au

Fremantle getting r*ped there

They are but they don't have a choice in the matter

Thornton to the Hawks for Pick 23

Polak into the PSD

All this is possible, except that the Thronton and Polak moves are not even linked to each other. So Carlton supporters are saying, "we're happy to be ripped off so long as we rip someone else off." Okay. Seems like a very passive response to your club slipping into crisis. Why don't you go out and try and make the list better instead of seeing who slips to the PSD?

I thought Polak was still contracted and as such would not be able to nominate for the PSD

No, he's out of contract unfortunately for us!

It says, 'connecting to media' and then just stops....

There is just to much traffic, the same thing happened last year. I managed to connect yesterday a few times but it was difficult, although it was pretty easy at 9am, try early in the morning and just leave it connected. Trying to get on after that is a painful experience.

Will still be just as tough to connect. just the link i provided gets you more clicks per minute ;)

I actually wrote a script to click my mouse every 2 seconds till it connects, but i havent bothered today. In Mebourne, so I can always bring in a trans to work (not Didaks Missus, a radio).

We've been in crisis for so long now we're used to it.
