Bit shocked when I read my herlad sun this morning only to find 3 articles on page 100 all about the Bombers and our woes.

Sheedy out spruking again about how he'd look at Houli, Timmy Watson giving a 'barrage' to old Sheedy supporters still in positions of power at the club, and then on a more positive note the atricle 'leaders cliam unity'.

Is it really that bad behind closed doors at Windy Hill that we have to come out and make a statement? Maybe if people (and Im not sure who) at the club, as well as the media stopped stirring up shit we wouldnt need to publicaly state our solidarity.

It seems the very fabric of our great club is being put into question by some Sheedy supporters, the public, some of the players, football analysts and unfortunately also by the media. Im 38 and this is the most frustarting time I can remember having supported the club since I was a kid.....I just hope this shit stops and the boyz can come out and have a good win against the Eagles, finish the year strongly, then come out in 2011 and make all the doubters eat their words.

It's the Herald Sun and you're shocked?

Seriously, that newspaper's best use would actually be as a rag! ;)

Fair point - i guess just suprised when usually you might get 1, maybe 2 articles dedicated to the latest spin but to have 3 articles and an entire page devoted to the Bombers it screams 'somethings going on at the club'.
where theres smoke there is usually fire...

The media's job is to sell papers. In more recent times that has essentially been at the detriment of fact, or to cause a stir and then flog it until the public become sick of it.

Right now, Essendon is under the pump. We are a successful club, a proud club, and a club that was up for a long time when pretty much every other club bottomed out. The 1970s was the last time we were at a low ebb like this.

Therefore most of the footy world in Melbourne, and a fair bit of it across the country, are delighting in seeing us at the wrong end of the ladder and hope we are down for a long time. The media will therefore flog this until we start winning again, or at least show some on field progress.

The easy thing for the club to do right now would be to bow to the media (hence public) pressure and make changes for the sake of making changes. These rarely work out for the better. I for one am glad they are sticking firm right now.

The Herald Sun is basically the AFL equivalent of Who Weekly.

I wouldn't be paying any attention to what the media hacks are saying.

In fact, i'd go as far as to say the media are trying to set the agenda here.

I think we needed this to happen, questions about the club have to be asked after 5 straight losses and I think this is a wake up call to the players and coaches and hopefully will be sorted out before the game this week and we can go back to winning.

Matthew Lloyd, Scott Lucas & Timmy Watson confirmed on SEN last night that there were some Sheedy supporters involved with the club that seem set on creating a division. Watson urged that these people move on or fully support the club.

Lloyd and Lucas backed up these statements at different times.

Scotty also said that any reports about him being disgruntled were completley false and that Caroline Wilsons information was in fact, wrong.

Don't believe everything you read.

There may be half truths in articles but they have been sensationalised.

The media I don't believe has set the agenda here however, I think they do what sells. The Essendon supporters backlash has given the Media the opportunity to flog this issue, and everyone is taking part. We in fact could have a pretty profound impact, as these sites are a reflection of feeling in terms of supporter groups. We are a direct source for the media to assess what will sell amongst supporters by viewing what we discussing. we may be only a small portion of the supporter base, but its very public.

And did you read the latest Patrick Smith article in the Australian today.

Claimed that he organised a meeting with the club Paul Hamilton and Ian Robson ) to discuss a range of issues involving Matthew Knights.

Although he acknowledged that Hamilton and Robson categorically denied all the allegations against Knights.
