With all this talk regarding using pick 2 or 3 on Viney, for god sake yes we are 0-6 but f**k me guys our second half of the year is quite favorable and i am very confident we will turn things around and will at least 7 games probalbly 9 which will put us roughly 12 with a poor percentage.
So we will have picks 6,7,and 15.....Pick 6 is a pretty good buy for Jack viney.
To many so called experts out there compare us to gws and gs,and that is just down right stupidity.
finally be prepared to really challenge Hawthorn,Sydney,Essendon and collingwood before the break, and i bet ya if we win 1 or 2 of those all which we are quite capable of doing so, those fu**wits out there will soon change there tune on us.
Melbourne posters only because i am not interested in opposition supporters opinion or dribble.

Name the amount of $ you wish to bet we win a game before the break, ill take any amount you like.

We are a bottom 4 lock.

GWS, GC and us are easily the worst three teams in the comp.

Port and Brisbane on the next rung, but clearly a rung above us.

We might beat Essendon if they have a down day but that'd be it for those four, aside from challenging them during periods of the game like against Geelong.

We'll definitely beat GWS and Gold Coast and knock off some other teams too. If that gets us out of the bottom four then so be it but we're probably still in for a pretty crummy year :(

Love a bit of optimism, and I think we will continue to improve as the year goes on and we will win some games, but it's hard to see how we won't be 0-11 at the bye.

Not sure which poster it was before the season who predicted we would be 0-11 at the break - myself and others ridiculed him for that but I am well and truly ready to eat my words there.

7-9 wins?

Remaining games are:

Clear Loss: Hawthorn, Sydney, Carlton, North, Freo(Away), Essendon
Should Win: GWS, Gold Coast, GWS
Some Chance: Collingwood, Lions(away), Richmond, Freo(Home), Port(Darwin), St Kilda, Adelaide(Melbourne)

Anything can happen vs the collywobbles.
Lions I'm not sure about since we already threw away a game at the MCG vs them, but it was our first game under Neeld so I won't write it off yet.
Richmond demolished us and I'm a bit skeptical of us turning it around that much.
Freo have never really done well at the G, and last time here we pumped them.
Port are pretty shite, but who knows.
St Kilda, I think we could have gotten over the line if Sylvia was match fit and we had Clark, Frawley and Jurrah back in, so I'd give us a good shot at them in the return.
Adelaide, same as Freo, don't play too great at the G but I think they're a better side than us so I'll hold my judgement.

Mate you dont know our playing group very well ,and to say we are a bottom 4 lock is obsurd. BUT the thing that ticks me is you have port and bris a rung above us please come round 22 we will clearly be above both of them without a doubt....

A lot of water to go under the bridge before the season is over, no doubt about that, but the fact is that we will more than likely be 0-11 heading in to the bye and it's a long way back from there. Not saying we can't do it but to get out of the bottom four this year will take a huge effort from the club and one I'm not so sure we can pull off.

Brisbane maybe, but Port have been very competitive this year (except for the first half last week, but coming off a showdown it was to be expected).

To say i dont know our playing group very well is rich coming from a guy who asks no people except Melbourne supporters to comment. What, were you afraid of some negative feedback to your thoughts?

I watch other teams (very much doubt you do) and im telling you, Port and to a lesser extent Brisbane are a rung above us.

If you get half way and your 0-11 (likely), you're pretty much a lock for bottom four. In fact at that point avoiding the spoon becomes the priority.

1.The reason i asked only melbourne poster post because i am not interested in other team supporters opinion i dont give a flying f**k what any of them have to say, that is the only reason not negative feedback .

2.You are missing my point come round 22 port and brisbane will NOT be above us HENCE the reason they will not be a rung above us aswell.

ATM yes they are above us so yes atm they are a rung above us but does that mean ESSendon are a rung above hawthorn and collingwood JUST because they are higher on the ladder atm ......NO IT DOES NOT>

And I watch most games every week, and i can see that Melbournre are a lot better where they are now,so with players coming back and a good run with injuries and some luck with things going our way ...i can see what Melbourne will and can do when we get our best healthy 22 on the park. And if any of you wanna judge Melbourne now well your pretty narrow minded.

I tend to agree somewhat with the OP.

We are nowhere near as bad as our ladder position suggests. We will snare a few in the second half of the year.

and really, what's with this board and threatning cards?

Add Bulldogs to that list as well Rude.

Unfortunately we will be bottom 4. The only game I see us snagging before the bye is against the Bummers.

Can't remember who that poster was, but I remember I had a crack at him too. Think I'll be eating my words as well Cowboy.

For what its worth, I think Melbourne are substantially better than they were last year.

I think the Geelong game showed that they were substantially more determined than last years team, and I dont have the Melbourne game down as a likely win for my Giants any more (I agree with the earlier poster its a 'should win' for Melbourne).

I think the team has bought in to Neeld's vision, and I'll be interested to see what Melbourne do in free agency.

That said, yeah, top end of the bottom four.

I dunno about beating Essendon  I know we have beaten them the last 2 years but they are playing some good footy.

I don't mind the optimism but i think we will win 4-8 games

I'd say 5 would be the absolute limit (and I'm still doubtful). Other teams are improving throughout the year too, not just us. If we don't get our act together I can see us losing the GC game and possibly one of the GWS games. We need to learn how to string 4 quarters together. I'd accept 4 wins if the gameplan looked like it was settled and adhered to for the most part. That would set us up for a much better year next year. Next year, we should be demanding 8-10 wins, IMO.

Every post has its point lads,Yes on form atm we will be lucky to win 4-5 games..HOWEVER i see the bigger and brighter picture and i strongly believe we will turn our season around ..and this isnt be dillussional its having a knack to know when we will click ..which is getting very close, the stats show that...
I appreciate every posters opinion on this, I do understand where we are at so we will just have to wait and see....
I would love to roll the hawks tonight ...how good would that be...

Yeah that was me after i watched the Hawthorn pre-season game..... Got a nice savaging on BF after that comment.

Have been hoping that i would be wrong though!

If we can continue to improve in the same way throughout this year, I think we could win a surprising number of games in the second half of the season. Hopefully that might take us out of the bottom four.

Remember, Richmond won 6 games in the last 12 rounds of 2010.

Fellas, get around us... going to get a sneaky win over the Hawks tonight. Clark to kick 7, Chip shutting down Buddy and Cyril to hopefully go missing and not do what he did last week! :D

One can only hope :o
