Seriously... What's wrong?

A lot of rants and also some good points raised on why the club is struggling. The coach, president, recruiting, board, captain, older players, younger players, assistant coaches, footy director, finances, culture, and fans to mention a few have been raised as the rightful owners of blame.

It is obvious to the footy world that Richmond is underperforming on and off the ground. We have made some catastrophic blunders at the draft table no doubt, some highly questionable appointments have been made as well in off field roles. Terry has made some huge public statement errors and our board seem inept.

I look at Collingwood at the Lexus centre and their huge sponsorship deals and also at Essendon with the empire they've built. We should be and have the capabilities to be right there with them. Punt Road is as a training centre for elite athletes a disgrace.

So what's wrong? Do we have the know-how, the finances and the off field smarts right now at the club to build something powerful and sustainable? If not we must change and not just sit back and wait to see if the plan works, just because we havent followed a plan through for a while. Surel;y if we can get everything off field spot on it will translate to on field.

It is a bit of the chicken and the egg theory, i.e. what comes first? Do we get the off field right and hope that on field comes good or do we get the on field right and hope that off field takes care of it self.

At present it seems that the club is going with the off field stuff first, build a solid financial base while we are struggling and as results improve then so will the bottom line. We have stability at board level & stability in the coaches box which allows everyone to focus on now getting the side heading on the right direction on the field.
