Setanta to GWS

Good luck big fella, will miss seeing you in the navy blue. Will miss the passion but will watch from afar.

Sheeds will give him the role of enforcer looking after anyone who rough up their young blokes. I expect to see him in quite a few brawls this year. He will be in his element.

Good on Tants... he didnt deserve to be cut by us. He is a much better forward than a lot of people suspect and had his development stifled by his trying being to be turned into a defender.

If he had been allowed to develop naturally as a forward then I suspect that he would have been at the club still.
Spot on. Wish he was still in Navy Blue.

Best of luck to him, he deserved a second crack more than most, especially Fevola.

There's a theory Parkin always espouses, about how it takes 10,000 hours to make an AFL footballer.

Irish obviously started a bit late, but he has done his hours, barring injuries (which has been his curse), there might be 2-3 years of very good football to come from him.

Will watch him with great interest.

Pretty massive achievement by Setanta when you think about it. He got another AFL opportunity when players like Fev and Leon Davis are struggling to get any opportunity. Reckon he could play another 3-4 years. He's never had knee issues, or other chronic injury problems. Think he had some sort of wrist/arm problem this season, and severe Fev-induced back bruising the year before.

:)

A Carlton supporter would know that Setanta had a chronic calf injury that resulted in him being sent to Germany for treatment.

:)

O'hAilpin over the Blues and ready to be a Giant among boys
In the short term, O'hAilpin — at 199 centimetres and 98 kilograms — knows he will serve as something of a protector for the club's young talent. And he's looking forward to it.

"Being one of the older guys, I'm going to take it upon myself to look after the young kids," he said.

Homecoming for O'hAilpin at AFL club GWS
"I suppose not many people know that I was born in Bankstown. I lived in Greenacre," he told AAP.

"They're telling me it's 10 or 15 minutes from here (Blacktown).

"I grew up here, headed to Ireland, then to Melbourne - now I've done the full circle.

"I have vague memories ... I remember my brothers playing rugby league growing up here."

Their colours suit him.

Hope O'hAilpin smashes it next year.

Best of luck to the big Irish. Would love to see him do really well for GWS. Could never question his effort and even at times his output. He still made/makes fundamental basic errors that have frustrated all of us at times, that other footballers just don't make.

Playing on at the wrong times.
Getting too close to the mark.

Basic errors like that are the things that divided opinions on him. Deserves his spot on an AFL list most definitely though, and will be a good servant for GWS as he was for us.
