Spot on forwardpress. The EB improvement hasn't come by accident. It has been well thought out and orchestrated. Typically, money gets thrown into the mix but rest assured the Vampires are not the biggest spending unit in the competition. No AFL blokes playing just a lot of talented young men. They'll be hard to toss if the list is availableC'mon Mahalo I know FG has got under your collar with some antagonising comments about your coach. IMO Morwood has done a great job with a young list. Generally they've been very competitive and have improved throughout the year despite the win loss record. Last weeks close lose to a full strength City is testament to this. However credit where credit is due. EB have also done a great job over the last couple of years assembling a playing list that is right in contention for a premiership this year. I doubt they have gone out and got mercenaries in. This is signified by an even spread of players. (They're best players seem to vary a lot from week to week) They've never been a high paying club. I could be wrong but I doubt this would have changed. I'd like to know where you think the money is coming from if this has occurred.
EB after a couple of Div 1 flags in the 90's went down to Div 2 in 2002 (for the 1st time since 1988) where they won the flag that year then won div 1 flag 2004, runners up 2005 after only 1 loss for year. Couple of ordinary years ( average 6 wins a year( Dingley like) then some building years to where they are today. Not finished yet by the sounds of it either. Before you pit $hit on other clubs get some success yourself first.
Are Dingley not the club who spent plenty in the Casey comp including some on St.Pauls players but were a laughing stock due to their on field performances.
Don't knock 2nd div cos without that when was your last bit of silverware won.

Umm Stefan Feehan and Tim Yeowart just to name a couple
You didn't read the post before that there are 2 under 16s this year so we hoping to get things going from thereFeehan has played maybe 4 Senior games and Yowie maybe 7 or 8. Either of them have hardly been regulars.
McGlede my old mate, you are on the money. We havent set the world on fire but we have a solid base and are ready to take the next step. Lets see if they stay around they might come and play with a top team if they are any good LOL
It is good to see so many people taking an interest in the Dingoes.
Lets hope that the band of mates stick together at EB because there are no kids coming through. They are the only club in Melbourne that are surrounded by Private Schools, poor souls.

If I was setting a market for the premiership it would be
1/1 East Brighton :Beaten every team this year and have the best list, plus have had the freedom to keep their list fresh leading into the finals
15/8 St Pauls : Looking good but are they going to be fit enough to go with EB
5/2 St Kilda City : I think the big ground will show them up
4/1 Chelsea Heights :They have the hardest run to get there, as every game they are playing is like a final to them now
25/1 Cheltenham : Just not up to it this year
Hope you are all learning the song

Mate you have got too much time on your hands counting 2nds players games, highlighting in red etc.
How many of your Under 16's will be ready next year or the year after???This is for a colts team How many home grown players played in your 1sts last week? How many mates are playing for their mates not the $$$? Tell the truth now!

Just City have come in and you and Heights are at longer oddsWow, we have drifted from 25/1 to 33/1 in the space of three hours...
Know something I don't? Did half our team do hammies at training tonight?!![]()
Private schools nobble junior development at clubs like EB and City, particularly EB. You'll notice though that EB don't try to poach players from the SFL, something your club could consider next time you look to recruit. Suggest the recruiting panel be less myopic and look further than opposition clubs for personel. Tried Mimo, Bruno, Williamson to name three in the last 2 seasons. There are other leagues after all!. Estimate 4 of the 22 last week were home grown.Mate you have got too much time on your hands counting 2nds players games, highlighting in red etc.

Also Super is Brown going to stay on next year ?
That would be up to the committee and Browny to decide but I'd be confident in saying he will stay on.
I think he has plenty to work with. His biggest asset is how good he is with the young blokes.
Just on the home grown players topic, I went through our list last night and of our 34 players that have played seniors this year, 24 are home grown (through our juniors/colts). And a further six have been at the club for 6+ years. To make the finals with this breakdown is a great effort IMO and a testament to the formula that Dingley are also following.

Many players shopped themselves around and we did speak to the players named. It is true that we got the wrong one, sh1t happens!
Were you estimating that 4 of last weeks EB team were home grown? If so, that is a disgrace!!!
You could not have been referring to Dingley because we had 16 home grown players in the team, a couple have come back to the club but they all played juniors. On top of that Vinen is playing his 12th Senior year so he could be classed as home grown. We also had a couple of 1st year recruits and a couple 2nd and 3rd year players.
We aren't far away and when we do play finals it will be a Community effort not a cheque book result.
EB have not had any junior teams after U/15 till this year for 12yrs so what other option have they had. Dont say we should have put more effort into the juniors as we have unsuccessfully attempted this. Recruiting these days is on young locals who move into the area and getting players mates to come and play with their mates. The Dingley area must obviously have a larger pool of kids ( and smelly tips )to draw from, so to become a successful club should be so much easier yet for the at least the last decade or so you have been cellar dwellars. So much for your community effort.
A bit rich coming from a club that's spent over $30K on coaches. One thing EB could never be accused of is opening the cheque book. From my mail there is simply not a fat one there. If you do your homework you'd see that the list has been retained over the last 3 years and topped up. If you also want to check it EB have won 4 flags in the last 20 years and have won more than any other SFL club overall. Where do Dingley sit with that? You'd want to hope they choke but history tells us they normally win them when they get there. By the way you're welcome to the 16 home growns because they're no good. You were making sense until your nastiness shone through, obviously you werent one of the private education boys!!
Talking about tips, heres a tip for you. Go and have a good look at Keysborough, they are very similar to EB. Senior team paid for by some wealthy supporters, weak 2's and no 3rds. Money dries up, mates realise that they can see their mates on a Saturday Night and they leave the club to chase the almighty $$$. Club slides, luckily the SFL is a tiered comp and you can slip back to 2nd Div. Enjoy the short term success boys because there are some dark days ahead!
p.s Dont choke this year!!!
Impressive performance. Does that make St Pauls the team of the decade? Who else would by vying for that mantle? Have to be the favourites this year. Who's your main threat Tiger?
