Probably because he is fat, slow, can't kick, had no idea what to do and he can't play footy either

OK Basically you have just proved you have no idea what you are talking about.

WTF brought that on?

You know you're only allowed to stick it to BK and Willo on this board!!

So enlighten me with facts as to which part is wrong?

1. Fat - He is not fat, and if he was what does it matter if it doesn't affect his fitness or ball winning capabilities at all.

2. Slow - He didn't look slow at all and covered the ground fine.

3. Can't kick - From what I saw all of his 5 possessions hit targets (I watched the first half on tape last night)/

4. Had no idea - If he had no idea he wouldn't be playing 1's. Stupid comment but even more stupid than the above.

5. Can't play footy - Ditto.

Is that good enough?

Now let's see if you back up what you said.

Murray my experience is all matters far exceeds yours I would suggest.

Luke is not FAT but will never be a swimsuit model either, I actually suggested he could do worse than go through a few videos of a fat, slow bloke who can't kick either.

His name is Glenn Archer.

Fat? Nope.

Slow? He is 30, but still not slow. When he was in his prime he could genuinely cover the ground.

Can't kick? Do you watch football?

Would of liked to have had Archer when he was a little younger, would of made a big difference to our backline. But Archer now is still good, but too late to pick him up though.

Whats wrong with our current back line at full strenght the way it is?

More referring to the softness of the Grand Final.

Archer would find a spot in any team providing he was fit.

What makes it worse was that he was a Pies supporter.

Not just a supporter. He was as obsessed as any of us.

Still likes you blokes to win apparently.

So let me get this straight.
I apparently do not know anything about recognising a good footballer and apparently I am a fool when I suggest a current footballer is not up to it.
Well it appears as if I am in good company as the match committee and the coach agree with me.
The Shack has been dropped after about 22 minutes game time in his first AFL game

Tess will not reply as she tends to disappear when debates don't go her way but Hoggy you generally talk a lot of sense.

I made my criticisms about Shack by seeing him in 7 games this year (6 for Willi and his game last week) and about the same last year.
Tess probably saw none, I reckon you might have seen him in a few.
Shack is only average or slightly above average at VFL level.
If he gets caught a lot at that level (which he does) how do you expect him to get quicker all of a sudden when he steps up to AFL level.
He is clearly overweight and if you cannot see that then you are not really looking.
His skills at VFL are only average.

Unlike a lot of Collingwood supporters - and this gets me into lots of hot debates - I don't assume any player who pulls on a Collingwood jumper is automatically a champion.

When they were black and white, yes. ;)

You could be right here as Bo Nixon got 2 weeks in a row... but from what I saw when he was on the ground, his time was good. Everyone is entitled to their opinion's. Sometimes they just aren't right. ;)

Appreicated. I can't really comment for Tess because I have never spoken/met etc so I don't know what is going on there.

Again fair enough, I have seen him in more if that is the case (5 Willy games in person last year, a couple of telly, 2 on telly this year, Wizard Cup and last week - and I suppose that London game as well but that doesn't really count imo)

I thought he does alright from what I have seen at VFL level - does better than Williams, Kinnear, Nixon at that level. He does have a Morrish Medal so obviously he is no hack.

He is clearly overweight and if you cannot see that then you are not really looking.

So is Dean Rioli but he goes ok when he is fit (not very often). I agree 3 or 4 kg's off would do him the world of good but we do need big strong body's in the centre of the ground.

His skills at VFL are only average.

Basically I disagree with that.

Neither do I but from what I have seen in blue and gold I was very excited to see the bloke get a game last week. To be honest I wanted him in round 1.

Morrish Medals don't automatically translate into senior success.

Being solidly built as a junior is a distinct advantage. Ask Adam Cooney or the legendary Richmond number one pick whose name escapes me at the moment.

When you get to senior footy however, its not so easy to throw your weight around, and you are just a fat kid playing a mans game.

To dud or not to dud that is the question.....

Being overweight is fine if you are a Greg Williams or are likely to become one.
Not a good characteristic to be carrying if you want to succeed at the elite level in any sport, unless your a Lockett.
This lad isn't a big lumpy full forward, he is a lot shorter and wants to make it in the mid-field.

Unfortunately, often high body mass and 4 quarter stamina don't generally go together.
He may be one of the rare few for whom it doesn't matter.
Fact is, he does appear a lard arse, and we've seen lard arse lance witless struggle due to carrying the extra lard.

Ball magnet in the two's, shows he has one ability.
His disposal? Can only be judged by his performance in the 2's.
If its not immaculate in the 2's that doesn't augur well for the 1's.

To play as a mid he can be an in and under ball getter (which he shows he can be) who doesn't have exceptional pace so he needs to be exceptional in his usage...a la Rioli.

He can't play as an outside mid due to lack of pace, so he's stuck with either developing pace or consistently displaying above average usage when he goes in and under and gets the ball.

At the 1's level, nobody can make a call on what his usage will be like as he ain't spent enough time on the park.

But if he ain't smokin' in usage in the 2's, wellllllll its obvious.......

If we Game him some Meningful game time last week, he Would've Doen very Well. He accumulates possesions like its Goin out of Fashion and i Beleive that he will be a very Very Good player in Future.

He is a Hard nut who loves the In and Under stuff.. He was on the Ground for 26 Mins against Richmond and was able to lay 4 tackles.. Beating almost everyone on our team, Some playing the whole Game..

Mark My words, he will be Very Very Good!
