Personally I think this guy has everything it takes to become a very good small forward:

1. He turns on a dime
2. His quick
3. He takes a great grab for his height
4. He chases and tackles hard

Think this is where Edwards should be played and replace Matt White on our forward line. he is a talented player but he has some brain fades. I am a big believer in his ability as a small forward. A few years ago he kicked 3.4 or something against the Dons. Would love to see him played here.

Thoughts?

Shite footballers never die, they just move to the forward pocket.

hes not an accurate shot at goal and has never played the position before. That would be my concern.

I still think he can be a good midfielder, he just needs to make the best of his abilities. Look at the way Roary Sloane plays; that should be what Edwards is aiming for.

Can roast a spud and boil a spud but in the end it's always a spud. Can't kick and is really soft, enough said.

I disagree with the soft allegation, on the contrary he's prepared to go in hard but he just doesn't have the bulk to win it.

i agree and think he's worth a shot. i said the same about king 2 or so years ago and got roasted on here, but now look at him. edwards has the evasiveness and ridiculous creativity of a good small forward, and within the 30m range should be reliable enough. look at milne, can spray them like no other but is still one of the best small forwards in the league. if edwards is creating 2-3 opportunities that we wouldnt normally get anyway, missing a couple isnt a huge deal.

well better plonk him down there asap to save his career bc he offers nothing but costly turnovers further up the ground

I don't think his kicking it as bad as people generally think, it's just that when he shanks it, he doesn't do it in halves, so it's very noticeable. Does anyone know what his actual kicking efficiency is?

hes not an accurate shot at goal and has never played the position before. That would be my concern.

Im sure he has played fp / ff a few times tho not consistently, and looked good there too.

give him some sticks to look at and his kicking will improve no end. Nahas claimed the spot though, with Kingy, thats enough short people.

I don't know how much the old 'can't teach an old dog new tricks' phrase applies, but if not he just needs to refine his foot skills and he'll be a solid player.

If we carnt trade him he is still good enough to b on our list for a couple more years unfortunately.

Get rid of him.

Offer him up to one of the Adelaide teams as trade bait. Hopefully we can fool one of them.

We managed to offload bloody Tambling and Edwards is a much better player.
He does almost everything well except kick which is a pretty big deficiency, lost count how many times this year he has done something really well only to spray the kick.

I think he is a good kick... hear me out here.

I mentioned a few years back how for Coburg (under Rawlings), Edwards was given the responsibility to take kick outs. He isn't the greatest kick obviously but he isn't as bad as he has been this year. He rushes his kicks way too much, if he slowed down a little and focused he can hit the target more often than not. I mean how many times has he kicked the ball this year and nearly missed the footy all together, he isn't that bad.

Rance has/had the same issue. Rance is a better kick but he does everything 100% and in turn can turn over the footy horrendously. This year however, he is a little more calm when it comes to attacking and it's paying dividends.

I'm still yet to witness Edwards kicking a goal on the run, so small forward no way. He misses more open/uncontested 35m straight in front shots on goal than any player I can remember.

He still is a light weight spud.

If he can not kick by now, he never will.

Adelaide maybe wary after the Tambling deal

Yep he can play fwd pocket.........for Port Adelaide when we trade him as part of the Trengrove deal.

Stuff Trengrove
We need to trade for 2 ruckman. We'll lose our 2nd and 3rd Round picks from those trades alone. Keep first pick for a gun midfielder. If we can get these 3 we'll be set. Delist/trade 10 players in the mean time
