If we are fair dinkum about improving next year, this bloke has to go. So two questions:

1. Who would want him?

And

2. What can we reasonably expect for him?

We have turned over 7, with the possibility of a couple more going.
I say give him one more year..
His last half of the season was reasonable.

We still need a few fringe players in case of injuries

After posting this I've had a bit of a re-think...

I reckon O'Bree is worth hanging onto, as long as he's not played in the midfield. I remember him at Brisbane being a handy, smart back pocket and I think he can return to those days. But as I said above, if we're serious about improving O'Bree can no longer play every game in the guts, he doesn't hurt teams enough with his disposal.

Yep - agree with that

you are not guaranteed to get anything better for him so dont be to keen to get rid of him! i agree that if we want to win a premiership he cant be anymore than a depth player. He seemed to play well when he was in an ok midfield. maybe when we improve our midfield he will play better?!

shane obree at times stood up during the year when others didnt in some games, and i believe he should be kept as one of those fringe players who has got experience

O'Bree wouyld be hard to trade, for anything of high quality, might get a late pick at Hawthorn or Western Bulldogs.

O'bree should stay as a secondary off the bench onballer that has exp.
Its a good mix with the young'ns like Shaw, Davies, Egan

O'bree should stay this year, give him another year... besides the fact I don't beleive that he is that bad, don't think he is anything special either but you can't turn over half your list in one year. We have already delisted 7 is it? plus another two or three are rumoured to have requested a trade so that would assure his position in the team this year at least. Unless he has a shoking season next year along with the pies, ie if they have another 2005 then he will be one of the first to go.

i'm in the minority in keeping O'Bree.....
He is the barometer I reckon for our team !
Some of our better performances are with him as catalyst Port & Freo in 2004 and he was very good in our competitve streak from say rounds 8-16.
He does make silly & crucial errors, but, that is as aresult of his preparedness to take risks. IMO he's the 2nd most important midfielder behind Buckley because of his creativity.
It's a worry that he doesn't get many opps to score but when he does he often misses horribly !

I've always been a fan, but, can see why people also are infuriated with him !
Only have to watch a game with my bro & dad - lol

must agree.. he gets more tackles then most collingwood midfielders.. we need that in our side

I like the idea of him going into the backline, considering he does tackle well. Definitely has ball-winning ability but myconcern is his decision making at times lets him down as does his disposal, not damaging enough.
Would not get much for him so we would be best to keep him for another season.
Hopefully we can trade well and pick up a decent midfielder in the PSD as well as some younger players in November.
Future is not as bad as people say IMO

I don't think he is that bad either, but if we are to trade him we might not get much. Though I reckon we should keep him, he played some good games this year.
