Averaged 14 touches, 4 marks and 3 tackles a game at the Hawks playing half forward. Has kicked 37 goals in 51 games and did most of his work as a sub. Picked up 3 Brownlow votes against the Saints with 30 touches and 9 marks in round 20 this year.

Career best - 33 touches, 12 marks, 4 tackles and 4 goals vs Gold Coast in 2011.

Wore number 21 at Hawthorn and could do so again with Ahmed Saad's future unknown.

A fantastic pickup in this poster's humble opinion. He could develop very well next to Jack Steven and I can't be the only one to see how alike they are on field. He will also be great promotional value for our extended stay in NZ.

Welcome to the Saints - Shane "Macho Man" Savage!

Shane Savage was born in New Zealand and moved to Australia as a two-year-old – beginning his junior football career at Noble Park (Stephen Milne’s junior club).

Savage was drafted to Hawthorn with pick No.75 as a bottom age selection in the 2008 AFL National Draft.

This year Savage played further afield, roaming the wings and even spending some time in the midfield – especially throughout the middle of the season.

Ameet Bains was full of praise for the exciting young playmaker after the announcement:

“He provides some outside run, is a very good kick, and we think he can add a point of difference to our midfield and complement the other young players we’ve got coming through.”

Savage will come good. He is still a talented footballer but needs the mental strength to play well in a team that wont pick up his slack.

Jeez he's young to be a dad isn't he? Good on him though.
About the same age as Bob with Boston. I know lots of guys in their early twenties who are great dads.

its easy to be a dad , much harder to be a mum.
But its not that easy to get the opportunity to be a dad.

Congrats to Shane and his partner.
Uh... do we need to have a little talk, SS? ;)
