theres been rumours that we are interested in him what about these 2 options

1. Tuck to Carlton, Thornton to Richmond
2. Tuck to Carlton, Thornton to Hawthorn, if hawthorn can get pick 15 to Richmond
what are your thoughts and other trade options

oh no we cant get Tuck his over 24 so even if he goes to PSD and we have to choose out of him and a kid whos not good enough to get picked in the draft we'll still have to take the kid wont we

Pass. We want draft picks only. Leave the top-up players for the Dons. :)

i'd happily take Tuck.

This over 24 rule will hurt you guys IMO. Take Gardiner in the PSD,then there is no need for Luenberger and Gibbs is a certainty:thumbsu:

but i'm sure you've all been through this scenario so i'll quitely leave......

Hawks won't get pick 15 - lock it in Eddie19!!
We don't want Tuck

Spida to Sydney.
Syd pick 33 to Freo
Polak to Blues + Hawks pick 24
Thornton to Hawks

Involves no 1st rounders as is all clubs policies. The only hitch is Polak agreeing to the Blues.
He might like the idead of being the big fish though.....pitch it to himas you're our no.1 defender with big Red (AA CHB) to support you..emerging talent of Bower, O'Hailpin and Walker. Tuff sell but you never know.

Shane Tuck is exactly the sort of player we should be targetting in trades. He's talented, fills a need (midfield depth), demonstrates pretty good leadership attributes, and most importantly he is just entering the peak of his career (he's what, 24-25 years old?). We'd get 6-7 good years of service out of him, and he'll still be around in an Andrew Thompson at St Kilda type role in 5 years time when we start to compete again.

Plus Richmond need a KP defender, so they just might take Thornton for him. I'm almost excited about this rumour!

Richmond would be crazy to trade Tuck. He's been the most consistent midfielder for the past two seasons. If they trade Tuck for a KPP they'll be merely filling one hole and creating another. They'd be better served to pick up a KPP in the draft.

Actually I think he is 24. He turns 25 in December.

Not sure Freo would take pick 33 for Polak, and Hawthorn lose Spida and pick 24 and only get T-Bird.

A bit of work to be done there BB.

If it's possible to bring Tuck to Carlton we should seriously look at doing so. Would be great for the club and he's exactly the type of midfielder we need. In and under player who can do the dirty work for Murphy and Gibbs.

But T-Bird would have to agree to that, and he has already said that he wants to go to Hawthorn.
If he doesn't want to go there then he can go into the PSD. If that happens there is no chance of Hawthorn getting him. There is no way we will accept a deal from Hawthorn when there are better ones on offer. Hawthorn have to get him by a trade and in doing so have to give us the best possible offer. I think that's pretty fair.

Pick 17 should be the starting point. If you guys trade Thornton to Hawthorn you should get atleast a 2nd rounder which would be 24, Im not at Richmond but I would have thought 17 & 24 for Tuck would be a fair swap for both clubs.

Straight swap Thorton to Tigers for Tuck ....huge win for the Blues

I think it would be a pretty fair swap actually. Both players are solid yet unspectacular. However i dont think we will trade Tuck with Coughlan coming back from a reco.

I think thats the beauty of a deal like that, and thats why it hasnt attracted too much critisism from both sets of supporters. Both players fill a definite need in the other team- Thornton would be handy for the Tigers with Kellaway gone and Gaspar on his final legs, and Tuck would add grunt to a young midfield who need a tough ball winner. I reckon we would come out a little ahead in that deal which could need to be tweaked, but rather than trade with the Whorks who are offering us the equivalent of the use of Waverley for half an hour next week (no lights included), you guys actually have quality to offer.

Im not sure how it works with players having to agree about which club they prefer.I remember last year Pickett nominated either Perth team,Blues to be with Pagan or his old club Roos.Look where he ended up

He may not have ended up at his preferred club but he would have had to agree to go to Melb.

We should just give the Hawks the following options. You want Thornton (I am sorry he doesn't deserve the T-Bird name anymore) give us one of the following:
- Sydney's 15 pick
- Polak
- Tuck

If not, he can play with Sheedy.

Polak would have come with a draft pick. He alone isn't worth Thornton.

Also I'd be talking to other clubs to get a higher pick than Hawthorn's/Sydney's 15.

Unless we can somehow get some good draft picks off the hawks 6, 15 i think the next best option would be tuck. He would be a great addition to our side of recieving midfielders( stevens, houlihan, scotland and co)
