Any word if he'll get picked for Demons next year, or another club?

i have heard talk that he is defintely a chance to be rookie listed by a couple of victorian clubs.

as the depth in this years draft is not as good as that of past years, perhaps he will be one to benefit

Only 20 years old, definitely worth a rookie list chance.

can anyone get his profile?
i.e.
height
weight
etc

D.O.B: 29.01.1987

Height - 176cm
Weight - 80KG

Exceptional player. Should become afl listed.

If not for injury in his last few u/18 years he may well already be on one.

He was on the shortlist for the Captaincy of Vic Metro in his final u/18 year if not for injury.

That is true but recruiters look for height and athleticism. Shorter players need very good pace and skills to come under notice of most recruiters.

Could be the same story as Matthew Stokes?

I rekon every now and then you shud recruit a guy who just gets a heap of the footy and uses it well. i.e. Sam Mitchell, isnt kick, just gets heaps of possessions and uses it well.

In today's game you need a mix of athletes and old style footballers.

All else being equal you'd take the taller option, but there is room in the game for the Brent Harvey, David Rodan sub 170cm types.

One thing with smaller players, and it was Andrew Thompsons biggest weakness, is being "ragdolled" when they get caught, Rodans pretty solid but Harvey doesn't seem to get slammed too often.

176cm and 80kg is hardly too small though, is that correct??

I agree with you and saj_21 (above). It is a tragedy that we will never see a Tony Shaw captain Collingwood again (I can, however, easily (gratefully?) accept we will never see a Tony Shaw coach Collingwood again though). Short players need big weapons to get drafted in the main draft. The rookie draft might be a saviour for some but not many and as time goes on I suspect fewer. Clubs building quality lists these days are unearthing athletic player via the rookie list and clubs are going to increasingly search overseas for athletes to convert via the rookie list.

I have a solution though. Unlimited list sizes. Same cap but no ceiling on numbers. Clubs will take more chances and unearth more footballers without obvious athletic abilities.

Gun.

Played in the VFl senior team against the WAFL. Not too bad for a 20 year old.

In the top 5 for Best total in the VFL playing for the best team in the comp.

Rookie list certainty at the least I would think.

absolute gun.. knows how to get the footy great football brain.. super skills left and right wouldnt pick the differnce.. can take a good grab reguardless of height.. anyway why should height be such a big problem thats why we have ruckman and centre half fowards in the game.. it would be a shame if he didnt get a chance because he would be able to take it to the best at the elite level.

He is top class and should get picked up I think melbourne have played around with him keeping him at sandy

But hoping he gets pick up by the blues or at less Rookied

Runner up in the Liston Trophy at 20 is a fair effort. I played with Shane for 6 or 7 years and he has to be given a chance by an AFL club. Great player who gets the footy at will, has fantastic disposal on both sides of the body and is always calm in traffic. Great attitude towards training and is a top bloke as well. I got a close look at Shane being his ruckman for years and there is every chance he will be a decent player at the top level if given the opportunity.
