Phil Jaques is still a better proposition to open the ODI batting for Australia than Shane Watson, even on current form.

Heck, I rate Brad Haddin's batting about equal to Watson's ... maybe a little better.

Thommo also complained that Aldermann should not have gone on an Ashes tour instead of him , Alderman of course took 40 odd wickets in that series and had a pretty good career after that.

No. What i am suggesting is if Hodge is a very good batsmen (which i believe him to be), how is a "hack" and a "useless" player averaging more than him in FC cricket?

That's cool I have no axe to grind against Watson. In any case I think his bowling is where the doubts remain about him, particularly at test match level.
