You must have forgot the Manuka 2004 game Johnno kicks the wining goal to get us across the line by 1 point against Sharon Grants team the Roo's:eek:

North and the Dogs clashed but once that year.

Round 14, July 9, at the MCG. Drew Petrie with quite the handy first quarter.

North won 13.16.94 to Footscray's 12.10.82

Worth bearing in mind this was our worst season in years.

And how did Johnno, resplendent in his greatest season ever, go?

Johnno: 13 kicks, 6 marks, 6 handballs. 19 possesions and one behind

Grant: 12 kicks, 5 marks, 7 handballs. 19 possesions, one behind and one tackle.

So even in Johnno's STELLAR year, the best he can do is break even, head to head, with Shagga.

I think the Footscray posters best slink off now.

This thread is getting positively embarassing for them

Really please. This is like Brad lining up for a crucial shot late in a game. Stuttering, inaccurate and ultimately a failure.

The 2006 Brad Johnson Truth Files have destroyed the last vestige of credibility Dogs fans had on this thread.

Hahahahahaha Grant broke even once with Johnno in 2006, therefore he is the better player :D In round 4 1999, Grants stellar year some elementary research tells me that North played Sydney, Andrew Bomford got 21 possesions, Shannon Grant 12 so therefore ....

I could bring also bring up that in 1999, Grants stellar year when the Dogs played North, Shannon Grant got 12 possessions and 2 goals, Johnson got 29 possessions and 2 goals :thumbsu:... quite the disparity ... but I'm not a fool who thinks that that one game really means much

And even though Johnson's peak season he kicked 74 goals and got 20 touches a game, far and away more impressive than Grant's, you're only reply was "it was a slow season" and "Freo finished third" :D

Your argument now is an arbitrary game in 2006 when they broke even head to head and that it was a poor season because Freo finished third, great argument :) Was 99 then also a poor season where a team that won 12 games and lost their first final made the grand final? In 2006 Johnson got 20 touches and five goals, 22 touches and 4 goals and 16 touches and 3 goals against the grand finalists. Shagga got 17 touches and no goals and 12 touches and 2 goals, I can pull out meaningless arbitrary stats to :)


Are the Zebra and CrazyQ deluded fools like u? They have both come into the thread and said Johnson is better, as has virtually every neutral fan. Can you name more then 3 or 4 match defining goals Johnno has missed? Johnno missed a shot against North and Geelong yet on a number of occasions he kicked repeated late goals to get us over the line.

You need to get over your sad fixation with our club, we know our history is crap and that it pains you that we are now far better then you :)

North supporters are just highlighting how much of a front runner Shannon Grant was.

Shannon Grant wasn't a front runner, he was a gun. Just that Johnno's better, which theres no shame in :)
 
haha shannon grant, i actually liked him as a player but Brad Johnson is better in every facet of the game.

BJ will be in the hall of fame, grant will be forgotten over time. You should have put this in the bay where all your dumb arguments wont look out of place.

Grant will only be forgetton if you close your eyes every time you walk past the Norm Smith Honour board. Looking forward to the Grand Final this week. Should be a cracker!
 
This is a poor comparison.

Grant was almost exclusively a half forward flanker, a position that many would argue is the hardest to play in modern AFL football.

Johnson played midfield and in the goal square.

Grant was the better half forward, Johnson was the better onballer and deep forward.
 
If Grant had Johnsons tank he would have been the better footballer. Period.

I have to admit, I don't watch a lot of Bulldogs games but what tank did Johnson have? Apart from earlier in his career he spent most of his football life as a full forward. I'd give him that he was a better contested mark than Grant but then Grant had Carey and McKernan/Rocca/Thompson taking care of business.

He will go down as one of the greats, as he should, but he wasn't a better footballer than Shannon Grant.

Grant was a good footballer. Johnson was a star.
6 time All Australian (2006 AA Captain), 3 B&Fs, over 550 goals...and sacrificed his game to play Full forward for a few years when that was where the team needed him to play.

Johnno was a very good player with a great career.

But his best football was not of the quality as Shannon Grant's best football.
