Shark Sightings

It is almost a year since the fatal shark attack at cottesloe in perth and as usual at this time of year there is shark sightings being reported everywhere.There seems to be alot of sightings in perth around this time and i was wondering what it is like in for people in wa at the moment.Is there mass hysteria or do people just except the risk and carry on with there water activities.I know i wouldnt go near rottnest island ,scarborough beach or cottesloe im sh*t scared of sharks.
