I can't believe I am about to say this, but I'd be more than ok with Hammer playing next week and giving Ivvy one more hit out in the twos. I reckon he might be a better match for NicNat.
That will happen , Maric would be thrashed by NN

Did u see that 30m chip kick to an adelaide player by himself when we were on a come back or were u in the toilet for that one ?

Yeah his disposal is not elite but who is saying it is ? A lot of rucks do the same thing, guess you missed Jacobs kicking it to lambert, or were you in your room at the time masturbating over your judd poster ?

He is the best option against NN. But he should be coached to handball only. Someone needs to be running past for a handball option every time he gets the ball because he will kill us with turnovers otherwise.

It isn't hard, did they do that at all today?

Yet he smashed jacobs in the one main stat that all ruckmen are regonised for and that is taps to advantage. I also struggle to come to terms with you stating he does not follow his good tap work with a follow up touch. Often today like last week. He would tap the ball to ground, one of our mids would fumble and he would then gather it and hand ball it to a free player.

Our midfield is dreadfully out of form yet we just beat one of the best contested sides in contested possession. A lot of that has to do with Hammer giving our inept midfield first use.

He beat him in turns of his tap work and he always looks good on the stats sheet but he doesn't palm it down to the advantage of our midfielders or create space around contests for them or block for Cotchin/Jack etc or convert in front of goal or hit up a target or provide leadership or consistently convert in front of goal.

Maric makes out midfield work with his 1%ers , bodywork, team play, leadership, skills and endurance. He struggles against the taller/athletic ruckmen but he more than makes up for it around the ground as a linkman and forward option. Hampson does none of this. If we could combine the two we would have the perfect ruckman but other than a good leap and a hot wife, Maric has him covered

Hampson was actually one of our best on the ground today. He deserved that goal he kicked. Me and the Richmond supporters I was around were convinced he would miss, but were pleasantly and happily surprised when he kicked it.

Absolutely loved Hammer's game today. For all the criticism he gets, I believe that he is his own biggest criticizer. The more games he plays, not only will he have more confidence in himself, but he will also make his team mates have some confidence in him.

I posted this last week, Hammer is coming off no pre-season AND is playing injured AND is playing some decent football. Showed incredible passion when he shoved the doctor away after injuring himself and some great promise clunking that huge mark in the goal square.

Watch this space, we will not need to go after a first ruckman in the off-season.

They'll both play next week I reckon.
I think so to and I hope they both do, Hampson has had a very good start to the season and I'm glad that's been recognized by the fans.

Over Dimma's time at the club we've almost never played with two pure ruckman in the one game, I'd be very interested to see how it goes.

Do you understand how the statistic 'hitouts to advantage' works? Tapping the ball, to our midfielder's advantage. Beat Jacobs' significantly in that stat.

Yes I do understand the statistic but if a ruckman hit the ball into space that is considered 'to advantage', also if they hit it to a midfielder who is blanketed by an opposition that is still considered 'to advantage' too. Unfortunately Hampson is too predictable which allows the opposition to read his taps too easily and race away with it or create a 50/50 contest too often. He needs to develop more 'plays' with our midfield and learn to drop it at his feet and guard/shepherd the space for our players to run onto. I think its more about him learning the ruck craft than lacking the fundamental skills and abilities to perform.
