It's been a terrible start of the season for Hampson, culminating in last night's Worst on Ground performance against the Pies. He would not be getting a game on his form if we still had Sauce. I used to be a big fan of Hampson but now the faith is gone, the fact he struggled against the Suns speaks volumes. With Kruzer still a fair bit away from returning, Warnock deserves better support in the ruck rotations. Ratten has to drop him this week, to show Hampson second rate efforts won't be tolerated

He was dreadful. Really needs some bash and crash factor about him to provide at least some impact when the ball is on the ground. ATM he stands back and watches. Has hands like saucepan lids.

FWIW Warnock was also pretty poor last night. Let Jolly run around as he pleased at times.

Unfortunately Hammer's development is just taking way too long. He is still a ridiculously far way off the level he needs to be. If O'Hailpin was fit I'd much prefer him playing Hammer's role. Would be a better option forward and would be serviceable enough as a second ruck.

Yes his hands were crap, and he hasn't improved his game in this area one bit. Maybe he needs to wear gloves in the hope of a few more sticking. Ruck work was OK. He got to a lot of contests but couldn't hold on to the marks and where he was in a contested situation, simply couldn't hold his feet. Spent more time on the ground than standing up. He is too top heavy and has 0 strength through his skinny hips. As a result, his balance is never gonna stand up to a decent shove from a strong player, and definately no bash & crash. Maybe needs to drop back in defense a bit more, chopping a few off and taking a few saving marks, rather than go forward. Warnock is going well but Hampson isn't much support for him...

Bring on Kreuzer ASAP!

He was wearing one glove, at least early on in the night from memory. Don't remember if he removed it or not.

O'hAilpin isn't a patch on Hampson as a ruck.

Hampson won't be dropped.

Carrazzo was worst on ground by a mile.

All this.

Hampson needs to improve his marking and kicking but he should not be dropped this week, or until at a minimum when Kreuzer is right to play in the 1s.

Can't Hendersen pinch hit in the ruck ? Hampson is badly out of form and confidence and needs a spell at the Bullants. I am most concerned if David Hille returns aganst us, he would exploit Hampson and right now Hampsn hasn''t proven he can play forward like Warnock

Agree Hampson is no support for Warnock.Warnock has pretty much been wearing the ruck since he first returned to the team, has been great thus far and will on occasion dish up an average game easy to do when you have very little support. Hampson is only keeping Kroooze's position warm until he returns.Warnock will be rubbing his hands together when the Big K gets back into the team I'm sure:thumbsu:
I for one cant wait!!!!

Warnock had the better of Jolly.

Hampson: He wasn't suited to this game and we paid for it to some degree.
I hope he plays against Essendon though.

Yes. I think we could get away with playing Setanta against a newb ruckman but not against 2 bonafide ruckmen. Hampson may have the athleticism to go with Ryder (I hope) in a negating role.

Either way, he is gone as soon a Kreuz is fit, so I don't see a need to rush someone else in just yet.

We didn't do Hammer any favours with our set up and delivery.

If you have a forward who isn't a great overhead mark, why bomb it to him in a pack like he's Sticks?

Even Fevola wasn't a great if you dropped it on his head with a bomb.

How many minutes did Hampson get in the middle?

He's had to pinch hit as the number two forward in the first three weeks.

That's beyond him ATM.

Played a better game against Essendon with Henderson and Waite inside fifty to draw opponents to them.

Outmarked Hooker going back twice to take two big grabs.

Yes, it would be very nice to see Hampson clunk more of the marks in the contests he gets to, but what would be even nicer is to see Betts play the role he's supposed to play in the team!

He's a crumbing forward, not a lead up target and he and the team need to get that through their heads. How many times did they kick it to Eddie on the lead only to have it swept out of defence, or smacked out of bounds. Then, when they went long to Hampson, Eddie was nowhere to be seen and when the inevitable spill happened, again it was swept out by Collingwood's smaller defenders.

Admittedly, I wasn't at the game, so maybe the camera lied, but kicks into the forward line seemed to be ill-directed and when they weren't, Eddie and Jeff weren't set up to capitalise on the crumbs.

One word - Causbolt!

Get him in and start seeing what he is capable of...
Cant be worse than what Hampson is dishing up!

Wiser heads would write this off as Shaun's "Corey McKernan moment" - said Corey didn't get a touch one day and won the best and fairest the same year.

Rock the Casbah!

Levi is raw but at 21 years of age, let's not die wondering. Unlike Hampson, he's pretty handy taking a grab and kicking a goal. 5 mins a quarter of crash and bash in the ruck is all that's required of Leigh Brown opposite Jolly, so I say give him a go!

I think Hammer needs to get out on the lead a bit more to mix it up. We seem to bomb it up all the time. Not only does he spill too many but his judgement in the air is not consistent. He is quick off the mark, so let's be smarter. Give him another couple of weeks.

Matthew Capuano is our ruck coach, not sure if he was the best rucking coach going around, someone like Scott Wynd or Paul Salmon would be better for Hampson, esp as Salmon was also a terrific forward

someones bright idea of a tactic to just bomb it to the goalsquare and hope for a mark or a contest. The problem has been that every clown that plays forward to us is flying for the same goddamn ball and the idiots who should be crumbing are either miles away or trying for mark of the friggin century. Eddie Im looking at you son. Walker too.

plus the bombs are not well directed

He clunked a few in the earlier rounds and preseason but was hopeless yesterday. What's most frustrating is that he gets his hands toe ball so often - very, very, rarely outmarked, but drops it even when under minimal pressure.

At the very least we should get numbers at his feet, because we know it'll far more often than not go to ground.

Hampson as I and Bigredisback have been saying for years is beyond hopeless.

Hampson out asap and let Hendo & T-Bird pinch hit in the ruck for godsake nobody could do worse.

For Hendo to come in a tall needs to be dropped so it has to be Hampson.
