This picture, found on facebook, is from yesterday's training session. To the far right you will notice Shaun and his arm brace due to the injury he suffered last year.

Why the heck is he still needing to wear it (and carry it looking at that pic), is his arm ever going to be at full strength again? If afccomau is still with us maybe he could fill us in, but seriously, it's a concern that it seems to still be such a major hindrance for him.

He trains with the larger guard and plays with a much smaller one. Last week he got 13 disposals, 20 HO and a goal according to afc.com.au

most players wear it afterwards just as a precaution, the afc must have found some evidence it may help prevent re-injury. Its the same with taping the shoulder for a year after injury/surgery. Now porpy, tippett, scott stevens etc have no shoulder taping.

Looks like he's fronting up for the Sydney Kings.
In which I have no doubt that he'd dominate. I see Knights being a gun in everything he does, MVP of the NBL, drafted to the NBA, MVP there, while also being the Brownlow winner here, while also bowling deliveries that Mitchell Johnson could only dream of as he helps win back the Ashes.

Given SMACK broke his arm twice in pretty quick succession last year, I say why not wear it all the time. As mentioned he wears a smaller guard during games and I don't think it would bother him.

I can't really see a reason why he wouldn't wear it - after all, if he stopped wearing it and broke his arm it would take about three seconds for BF posters to scream 'OMG stoopid Craigy keeps overtraining our players sack him already!!!111'.

Can tell you on good authority that in the alternate dimension where Knights plays every sport other than footy, he declared in last year's first test at Cardiff on 0/551 25 minutes before lunch on day 1 so he could have a quick crack at Strauss and Alastair "straight delivery is too difficult I'm afraid" Cook with the ball. I say he declared because he's the captain (terrific leader of men), and is also the only player in the team. Quoted from Cricinfo:

Morning chaps, Bryan Coverdale with you for the remainder of this early session while Andrew Miller has a lie down and attempts to snap the looping mental image of a sweetly cracked Chris Knights cover drive that's been troubling him this past hour and a bit.

So out stride Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook following a disastrous morning for the home side here in the Ashes opener at Cardiff. It was the Chris Knights show from the opening delivery, a chanceless innings that had more than a few of us wondering if we'd seen the last of what was once known as "the dismissal" in test cricket. England's seamers rarely looked beyond pedestrian, Broad generally resembled a woman as he trundled in, and the much-vaunted spin combination of Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar toiled without luck (not that they'd have fared any worse had they left Monty out and tossed the ball to a shriveled garden potato to roll a few through). Australia firmly in command here.

Strauss tapping and scraping a few bits and pieces off the surface as he prepares to take his mark. Body language a touch nervous. England will be hoping for a livelier start to their first innings here than in their previous campaign opener, when Chris Knights had Strauss stumped for nought off the bowling of Chris Knights at the Gabba. Barmy Army pissed off home real quick after that one. Except the women. They were keen for a bit of Knight Rider.

It appears Strauss is ready, he steps over to take guard in front of the stumps...and opening the bowling for Australia will be Chris Knights.

0.1. Knights to Strauss,
OUT!, 171.8km, Oh dear, and Knights has struck immediately, removing Strauss's face and stumps, such was the shape and venom on this delivery. Vintage celebration from Knights, where he does nothing other than strut in a self-approving manner as we all stare and acknowledge that Knights is really rather good. AJ Strauss b Knights 0 (0m 1b 0x4 0x6)
