Probably the best going around at managing a list. Has always managed to keep us competitive. For the most part, he has a good eye for talent (apart from some notable blunders), and is a very shrew trader.

Has pulled some very clever on-field moves, but as far as a game-day coach goes, I don't think he's all that great. I think his best work is the behind-the-scenes stuff that keeps the club moving from within.

Rockdog who do you actually barrack for?

You've been on about five different club boards today bagging the hell out of someone or another trying to get a rise out of supporters.

I'll tell you who's over rated. Dennis Pagan. Recycle King. He's been at Carlton for 12 months and he's picked up Barnaby French, Mick Martyn, Brett Johnson, David Teague, Digby Morrell, Daniel Harford, David Clarke, Heath Scotland and Corey McGrath.
Way to build a list Dennis.

It is irrelevant who I barrack for.

Sheedy is a coach who has a big reputation, but on gameday the moves he makes, when the Dons are in trouble are not the moves of a so called mastermind.

He is always moving people to positions they are not used to playing and the general public say, Oh I didn't see that coming. The reason is 80% of the time he has simply made a move that is suppose to surprise the oppostion, and the person he has moved cannot play that position all that well

Only one word sums up Sheeds.

Genius!

I go by this, and always will, as well as expecting all of you to go buy it...so whenever in a troubled situation, just think...W.W.S.D

What Would Sheeds do?

Nandoz

this man would have to be one of the best coaches of all time.
just look at his win-loss ratio, not to mention how he has survived at Essendon for so long when todays footy is so cut throat.
Another thing is,he is very loyal to Essendon and his players, what he really wants is that no 5 flag and he just might get it.

ONYA SHEEDS! ;)

as a technical coach i find that he is in top few but he is the best at keeping the squad ticking over and some of his trades whilst controversial have mostly worked out for us. his trading and drafting is first rate and thats probably down to the people he has around him as well but personally i wouldnt want another coach in charge of the team i support

Pornstar don't you think that your comments on Pagan are a bit rough? Who do you think he was supposed to pick up in trade week?

He had NOTHING worth trading other than possibly the two we got and Corey.

Out of that stuff he picked up some decent players who can fill immediate onfield roles and keep them going until they pick up young guys in next years drafting.

Don't forget the big one they will get: Stevens. They will be able to build a team around him and a couple of the current guys they have.

Personally I think they have done well and wouldn't be s******ing at Pagan. If you want to s****** then look at the Bullies & Tigers: two clubs who have no idea how to pick a coach!

You could build a side around Jonathon Brown a 23 year old carey or someone like Lloyd not a soft reciver like Stevens It'll be a least 4 years before Carlton are capable of chalenging for the flag. Sheedy over Pagan anyday.

Icetemple i don't think my comments are harsh. I know Carlton couldn't trade into the first couple of rounds, but there will be plenty of future stars amongst the >30 draft picks. Scotland and McGrath were good pick ups for them, but they should have left it at that and traded for draft picks thereafter. I'd rather have draft picks 50, 55, 60 than Teague, Harford, Clarke. At least the draft picks might turn into stars. Pagan has traded for now to make the side competitive rather than take the long rebuilding path that could make the club a premiership contender again. StKilda did the same thing in 2000 and it didn't work for them either. Callaghan, Brett Voss, Capuano, Lawrence, Delaney, Powell. ugghhhh.

Tosser...

Leave him. He's made a heap of posts on a whole lot of different boards, all of them with stupid juvenile comments trying to get a rise out of supporters.

A tip: If you're going to troll, you have to do better than post obvious and facile rubbish.

PORNSTAR i agree with ur comment on pegan completely

if he is such a great coach like everyone made him out to be,
then he would adjust his century old game plan to what carlton's current players are suited, not trying to make players play out of position to match his game plan.

He was only good coz he had carey...... the man could've marked
the ball with both his arms tied behind his back

Your a fool mate.If you bothered to check the kangaroos were a rabble when Pagan took over the coaching job in 92 even with Carey in their side but managed to mould them into a premiership team in just 3 years with an excellent game plan and getting the best out of all his players.
He has only been in the Carlton job for a short period of time and your bagging him for not getting Carlton up the ladder.
He at least deserves a descent chance in the coaching job before you make harsh comments like that.
Tell me who else would have done any better at Carlton than Pagan has so far

I just think coaches are great only if they can bring the best out of his players.
Look at the old Chicago Bulls, can anyone say Phil Jackson would be as great as he is now without the "basketball god" MJ? I am not so sure.

Before u calling me a fool, explain ur point, theres no need for attacks like that on other's opinion

If pegan can bring Carlton out of where they r now, like what the pies has done, like what the lions have achieved, the pegan is by all means a great coach, but now, in my mind, he is a good coach whose reputation was enhanced by having the best player possibly ever to have played our game in his team.

Excuse me but dont you rate the best players by brownlows and Norms, if youre saying Carey is better than - Skilton(3 BMs),Stewert(3 BMs), Bunton (3 BM's),Reynolds ( 2 BM's),Hutchinson (2 BM's).

Carey is nowhere near the greatest AFL player and youre wrong to think that.

By that argument Shane Woewodin is a better player than Wayne Carey.
