Seems odd to be making a decision now.......how silly will they look if Essendon somehow pull off a run like 1993. Afterall, it is a wideopen season......I doubt that they will, I actually think they'll finish 4th bottom but I would have waited until the end of the year to make a decision.

Had to love Sheedy in his press conference.....talking about joining the board and throwing out the President.

He's been a great coach and some Essendon supporters ringing up on SEN need to realise that not even Sheedy is bigger than the club. Even legends like Sheeds must make way for progress.

IMO Sheedy has been very good at prolonging a list and replenishing it almost seemlessly rebuilding without actually people ever saying they were rebuilding. This current crop he hasn't been so good with IMO. The club had to make a hard decision on whether or not they'd risk Sheedy, who has been with this group forever, to turn it around.

I kinda feel a bit bad for the Essendon supporters, after all we may have been the last nail in the coffin after beating them on the weekend.

And what will Anzac day be like without having Sheed's pumping it up?
It's going to be interesting, it's the end of a great era and my congratulations to Kevin on so many year at the one club... I only hope Bucks can have that kind of record ;)

Exactly. Success sometimes has to come with some hard decisions. If the business were easy then everybody would be successful. Eventually the partnership had to end. It's been a long and fruitful one and I doubt that either parties would be surprised that it's happening now.

ANZAC day surely won't be the same. Mind you, it's about more then any one player or coach, but he is the instigator after all. No Sheeds, no Hird, no Bucks, no McGough...;)

don't feel bad for us

Flags in last 50 years:

Essendon = 6
Collingwood = 1

People have to realise that Essendon F.C will be around alot longer than K.Sheedy, he has won 4 Premierships in 27 years and has left the club in alot better shape than when he arrived and has tranformed the club from just another under acheiving Victorian club to one of the biggest in Australia, Well played Kev but sorry mate it's time to go :thumbsu:

On another note listening to SEN today Essendon will be lucky to crack 10,000members next year :)

I reckon they are the loud minority though.

I reckon he's a victim of his own high standards. All those years that Essendon were making the finals, they had to keep producing great players from later picks and recycled castoffs. Now that those years upon years of competitive finishes have caught up with them, Sheedy gets the boot.

Very sad for one of the great personalities of the modern game.

Essendon is stuffed for the next 3-5 years. No matter who the poor bastard who replaces sheedy is, everyone will compare his every move and action to how sheedy would have done it, unfavourably. Nothing he will do will be good enough.

The poor prick will be carted off to a rubber room after about 3 seasons (if he lasts that long) and they'll have to start all over again.:D

1958, I suggest you pay attention to what The Count from Sesame Street is actually saying next time you tune in.

I'm gonna clarify that for him and say he meant ladder position, not with regards to supporters/ finances etc. Phew, left yourself open to that one Stants.
