Schade went far too early I reckon. Josh Green easily the most talented player drafted from Tasmania in recent years, aside from Howe. Could be a bit of bias in that though.

Too early to tell. Give him three or four years at least before we know for sure. I do like Schade as a prospect though, could develop nicely. He looks to be developing well, so should see him get some games next year. He was always going to be a long term prospect. I'd say Darley and Russell, and maybe even Weller would be ahead of Green in terms of upside. I am a big Green fan though. Watch out for St Kilda's Jimmy Webster next year too, if he gets over his injuries he could have a decent run.

Yeah but those three weren't drafted, think they were all pre listed. Weller had the most talent out of that lot I reckon. Hope someone like Bowden or Brady Jones gets drafted. Very good players.

OK, so if you exclude the pre-listed guys you might be right. I'd say Green is probably the most talented to enter the AFL draft in the last 3 drafts, besides Howe. Hard to say though, because Green does have his deficiencies (and so does Howe). But considering how poor we have been in the actual drafts in those years (excluding prelists), it's not saying a great deal.

I think this is going to be our best draft year for quite awhile. Thurlow and Lonergan are very exciting, and I wouldn't discount Siggins getting through and becoming quite a solid KPD. Next year we have Kade K, and Eli Templeton, who could both also potentially feature in Shifter's 2013 top 30. May be some good times ahead for Tassie AFL.

This why I love football and all the discussions as the thoughts and discussions are so varied.

It is probably a fair call to say Josh Green had the best "entry card" from his U/18 & senior exposure with Clarence. There is no doubt he gets every drop of talent out of his frame.

This is where my opinion probably differs from the rest. Rating players is hard with so many variables however I shall try and be succinct!

Smaller players historically hit the ground running due to their physical maturity compared to the KPP.

However would I rather have Howe or Green on my list. A bloody hard question. Surely most would choose Howe. IMO he is more versatile in the position and roles he can play within a team. Howe is unique in the sense that he is a hard match up due to his agility/marking . I also see more upside for Howe. Another Tassie boy who displays these traits is Garland at MFC (just look at the varied opponents he has had to play on over the years).

Weller has to have a big year with GCS as it appears no AFL club was prepared to offer up a deal to get him. A 1 year contract at the GCS means he is in the gun to be delisted at the end of 2013 as GCS have to trim their list as it is bigger due to being an expansion club. A good year would mean a 2 year contract.

Webster I believe is also in a precarious position. A tough gig as he only played limited games in the seniors at the VFL level. Needs senior VFL game time and to be in the best players. Being injury plagued and of a small frame means that alot of things need to fall his way for him to make it.

Russell at GCS seems in a good position at the moment and seems to be valued. Kid can play and works hard defensively.

I am probably in the minority but Darley really concerns me. Reads the play magnificently and has superb decision making and skills. However he is IMO an outside player who has the potential to be exploited by the opposition. He will get game time in 2013, but this alone does not mean a contract for 2014 and beyond.

I have done a backflip on George Burbury at GFC. He apparently had a 1 year deal from EFC for 2013 but chose to stay at GFC as a rookie. I saw his VFL finals games and he was very good. He will get senior games in 2013 when (sadly) a GFC player gets a LTI. He has the mongrel in him to succeed.

I might have been lucky (my form has been very questionable previously!!) but I pinged Schade to go between 20-30 last year and as Tassies first draft pick. Looking at AFL lists and those playing U/18's nationally, instantly highlight the huge shortage of genuine KPB that are over 195cm's. Sure they take longer but if it comes off the returns are huge.

This is why I am such a big wrap for Sam Siggins. At 194cm and a super athlete, 17 AFL have apparently spoken to him. Supply and Demand is a basic concept that applies to KPP.

I hope more Tassie boys get drafted and less delisted. However I think it is important to convey opinions and ideas that are rational.

Anyone who is drafted is a good footballer. Sometimes plans do not always go to plan!

It's interesting to see how draft views among "experts" both in AFL circles and on BF polarise.

Just goes to show there's no real exact science in "ratings" and rather just somebody's opinion.

Jarred Polec - in an interview ... maybe he was just having a laugh.
He said his playing style is one in a million. I think he may have been referring to his defensive game. He will be an all out gun one day and you will wish you had him

Was very surprised Mason Shaw didn't get a mention. Would be amazed if he slid out to the Doggies pick 22.
I think we rate Tim O'Brien more highly, in the frame for our pick 22 (and a heap of clubs have spoken to him)

Panos I believe.
Panos was short as well though.
His issue wasn't lack of height or versatility - it's that he lacks explosive speed so doesn't get any separation on the defender.

From memory Gourdis was rated highly by BF group-think in his year and also slid heavily.

I did like Graham's answer:

What parts of your game would you like to improve?
Being 18 years-old, I am consistently trying to improve in all areas.

Not only genre savvy, but humble as well. Wouldn't mind him at the club to be honest.

good if a few of the highly rated kids can slip to our second and third picks (in the 30s range) :D
