The latest:

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating after a man was shot dead in Hampton Park, south-east of Melbourne, earlier this morning.

A 30-year-old Cranbourne man was found in a vehicle on Bride Avenue with a gunshot wound at about 12:30am.

He died at the scene.
