Leo has been relegated to second best forward with Bolts getting the ops best forward.

I think Teddy/LRT should get second best forward. These guys could just work on negating allowing Leo to create more.

I would also lookat playing Leo on the Medhursts and other small forwards. He would dominate them.

When LRT becomes a regular in the backline again would also like to see Leo get a rotation up forward if forward line not working well. I know he started there but it could reinvent himself again.

Thoughts guys?

I don't think Barry has been "relegated" to second best forward. He's never been asked to play on a Riewoldt, Pavlich, Brown or Richardson. He tends to play more on the FF types - if there is such a thing. LRT was gradually being given the jobs on the taller, mobile CHF types, until his injury and then his conscription into the ruck.

Ideally we'd have him playing on the mid-sized forwards but until someone like Grundy steps up and show they can play one on one with players of strength like Bradshaw, Barry's going to stay.

And although Ted has won some one-on-one match-ups, I think he's been beaten more often than not. I like him as the defender on the "third tall forward" who can also fill in the holes.

Agree totally, he is a bit past it as a first choice full back, especially with the rule changes. C. Bolton should get the best forward everytime and probably LRT the 2nd tall once Everitt comes back and he can stop shaming himself in the ruck.

Although that said, I'd still be a fan of Leo playing on some of the guys he had a good record against.

Leo's best role for us at the moment is probably being the loose man in defense. He's still pretty quick and is fearless throwing his body back into packs, plus can be a handy ball runner too at times.

Once Spida comes back, I really don't see why Leo should get the nod over LRT in getting the second best tall. And I will play Ted on the third tall as well - should for me he should be playing on a small/medium forward.

But whether he is quick enough to match up on such a type is another question.

We saw on the weekend that if the midfield can't hold up the footy long enough for a second man to drop in front and help him out, Leo can look a bit out of his depth in a one-on-one. Of course, the way the Swans play that shouldn't happen too often. But for the most part Leo is still the man you want matched up on the players who play as deep forward targets. His vertical leap is still a potent weapon.
