With up to ten potential draftees and tipped to provide more than VIC metro should the banana benders be moved to divvy 1.

I tipped this several years ago that QLD were an emerging powerhouse of junior footy and my prediction is about to bear fruit.

With more kids playing footy than rugby league in QLD they are poised to become a state equivalent with WA and SA in terms of draftees and player numbers. They are very strong from auskick to about 13s (numbers wise)and in the next few years will only gain more strength.

Thoughts??

to replace who?

Knockout with last placed side in div 1 .... every year ...... eventually QLD and NSW will be at the Div 1s standard.... weight of player numbers will eventually win out.

Perhaps both teams will join Div 1 and teams like new zealand (who are in australian country champs this year) and PNG (who play in QLD under 18s champs and have 2 or 3 players in QLD team ) will replace them.

Group 1

Western Australia
Vic Country
QLD
NSW/ACT

Group 2

Victoria
SA
TAS
NT

Day 1:-
1) WA Vs Vic Country
2) QLD Vs NSW/ACT

Day 2:-
3) VIC Vs SA
4) TAS Vs NT

Day 3:-
(5) Winner Match 1) Vs Looser Match 2)
(6) Winner Match 2) Vs Looser Match 1)

Day 4:-
(7) Winner Match 3) Vs Looser Match 4)
(8) Winner Match 4) Vs Looser Match 3)

And.............well you get my drift.

This way, each group has Two Powerhouse teams + Two developing teams (that are more than a chance to cause an upset)

NT & NSW are very similar in terms of strength & potential Development.

Tasmania & QLD have both Showed that they are emerging with great talent to follow.

VICTORIA Vs SOUTH AUSTRALIA has had some brilliant duels over the years so that has to be continued.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA Vs VIC COUNTRY has had some good games in the past couple of years and there seems to be a good Rivalry developing there so you gotta keep that going.

Shouldn't they at least dominate div 2 for a while first?

I stand corrected.. but.. i think QLD has won div 2 for the last 2 or 3 years. ???

i think that even considering putting queensland in division one is a joke, this is just my opinion but i dont think that they are in Victoria's WA's or Souths class, they would rock up every year just to be trounced, even though they have a broad range of draft prospects the vics have proven time and time again that the best list wont always win

Tassie won last year, also had quite a few blokes drafted. Also has potentially 3 or 4 high draft selections this year plus others later in the draft.

Qld are definitely improving and over time should become the dominant side in Div2, but I think they have a while to go before they can compete with the big guns and therefore things should just stay as is for a while given there's probably not enough time for all 8 teams to play each other.

Queensland hasn't won since 1999. Their two titles were in 1997 and 1999.

They used to have promotion / relegation.

The problem was that the relegated team would blitz Div 2 the next year, and the promoted team would be blitzed.

4-game formats won't work. The carnival has to be squeezed into one week of school holidays. Stretching it out to a fortnight would have the parents and schools in uproar about kids not being able to study etc.

It should be remembered that the Div 2 teams play 3 guest games in the TAC Cup. They went 1-11 this year and in many cases played some of the weaker teams. Queensland got the one win but against Dandenong who are a rabble with 2 rep players in the squad.

I think there should be a relegation/promotion each year this gives all states a chance to show how good they really are and us viewers a chance to see the how far along the developing states have come.

eg the winner of div2 takes the place of the loser of div1.:thumbsu:

This is easy, Div 2 teams struggled against TAC cup sides. 7 teams in TAC cup make up Vic metro. If they cant beat one of those 7 wat chance do they have of beating the combined team? Yes they do have some good players but they have no depth wat so ever.

Look at the results. Its not hard to tell by them. they played 12 games (the Div 2 sides) and won 1 (against Stringrays who are last) against TAC cup teams.

QLD's 1st game was their first game as a team went well for 3/4s

2nd game was very close against a good outfit

3rd game ..... Have not seen to many margins like this in the TAC Cup.

No easy answer, but it would be nice for the players to see how good or not so good they realy are. Maybe play a Vic team prior to the championships????

or mix up the Challenge Cup ????

Whats wrong with it how it is now?

You can possibly put NSW/ACT in the same div as Vic country and WA and put Vic Metro in with SA....
i dont like the knock out idea either that if you lose div 1 u get relegated because look at what may happen... Vic country would of got relegated last yeah and are in this years grand final
Only way to fix this soloution is to have the bottom of last year Div 1 and top of Div 2 have a match before the carnival?
