Brilliant at Subi. Should be banned from the airport.

He is a brilliant tallent, and as others said he should be used on the ball.

Sampi draft pick 5?, Medhurst draft pick 60+.

Medhurst has been given a bit of stick in media, pretty quiet from the media on the Sampi front.

The lack of a stable forward line may mean that Sampi is playing a different role to what he would like.

Medhurst performs more than Sampi does.

Medhurst for all he cops is still 12th on the goalkickers list this year and will reach the 50 mark for the 2nd straight year.

Samps has definately dropped away in the second half of the season. His tackling stats and defensive pressure is still good, but the goals have dried up. He has so much natural talent, it isn't funny - but it's frustrating to watch him go missing for a half then suddenly do some brilliant act, then go missing again. i think he'll be in the side for Brisbane - but if he doesn't perform again, he'll find himself back in the WAFL

The problem with Sampi is quite simple- anyone who saw anything of the eagles training prior to round 1 could have told you that he was woefully out of condition when preseason began and hasn't got much better- as the season goes on, that lack of fitness is really beginning to tell, and the result is that he has trouble running out games and making a contest for four quarters, hence the 'enigmatic' tag- I don't think he is lazy on field, its just that he let himself get out of condition prior to the season and he's paying for it.

Worsfold needs to give him a long hard talking at the end of this year, and probably give him an ultimatum, because regardless of his natural ability if he lets himself go again over the off season, big questions are going to be asked about his overall professionalism and value to the team. Despite his enormous natural talent, I'd have him on notice next season- if he doesn't get his attitude together and enter 2005 in far better physical condition than he was this season, he'll be on his way out the year after. He's a kid, so I suppose this first lapse can be tolerated, but if it happens again, bye.

Agreed. And if the talk does happen I hope he takes the right way and goes about improving. He only needs to look at an Andrew Embley to see how it can be done. The kid could be anything he has so much talent, he just needs to get serious about it.

Sampi has much more talent than Medhurst but his attitude sucks. Not only would i drop him, I'd trade him.

That's your view, but I agree with the attitude problem which is the bane of alot of gifted athletes.

The media have layed off him, but it may appear that some Eagles supporters are prepared to make honest assessments on their players rather than letting their heart get in the way.

Nothing to do with heart, mate. I do it regularly in business. I have seen a lot of talented people who have attitude problems and they don't stay around too long. One bad apple can spoil the barrell. If I can make a real criticism of myself, it's having been guilty of keeping many on too long and only realising it once they have gone.

Meads post is interesting, he wasn't injured so why did he not do a preseason? Why did he get away with it? I heard he just didn't turn up half the time and put little effort in until February. That sucks for any proffessional athlete.

It's a minor curse brought about by the number on his back. Lewis went through a similar stage. Sampi will still mature into a fine player.

Give him time, a majority of young players go thru form slumps,
look at judd in the 2nd half of last year and now look at him.

Yep, footy is 10% skill, 90% between the ears.

I've unfortunately seen so many footy players with it all except a good dose of intestinal fortitude.

Unfortunately Sampi is falling into a category like Derek Kickett.

I thought all players had a fitness programme for the summer training, if they don't adhere to it for a good reason (eg. illness), they should be booted immediately.

Sampi has always been a flashy player. Needs to learn to do all the team things as opposed to 1 or 2 freakish things each game. I think a run in defence could help him concentrate on his task at hand.

He has done bugger all this year except for one mark. I think he is overrated and needs a good stint in the WAFL to get his head in and get some more experience on the ball.

So do you all think its bout time Sampi got sent back to the WAFL?
You could also try playing him in his normal position

Which is what exactly? He didn't play forward pocket as a junior.
