Depends on what you mean by notification. Its probably only fair to notify the originator of a thread, but I wouldn't think it necessary to notify everyone in the thread.

notice given AT LEAST to the creator.

but if it is a thread that concerns alot of people, why not simply state, "this thread was removed because of....."

these people who mod here dont have to be so secretive about it.

Yes, particularly those stupid 500+ post threads.

Examples:
-Bar and Grill thread
-An attempt to get a thread to 1000 posts
-Progressive story
-Don't read this, there's nothing here (remember that gem by good ole Dan??).

How do they hurt you D4E? I mean you don't need to contribute or even read the posts.
If they were on other boards I would agree but this one is really a fun place. If someone wants to post a fun thread and others want to contribute then what's the harm?
Let people enjoy themselves as long as the site rules are not broken.

I would remove this thread but then nobody would be able to appreciate the irony of it all!

Although it's a shame when a funny thread is removed when it isn't actually breaking the rules, perhaps the terms of use needs 'thou shalt not poke fun at the mods' included ;)

Seriously, I'm sick of people saying this.

"Blah, blah, blah... you don't have to read it." - when someone has a legitimate criticism about a thread, people jump out and use the old age rebuttal. No offence, but threads like the "Bar and Grill" thread where you "pretend" to buy food and drink is so childish that even a 10 year old would find it stupid. What purpose does it serve? To "have fun" as some people put it? Well, in that case, it's the saddest thing I've seen since Carlton's performance against West Coast.

But, hey? Who am I to dictate what's right and wrong? I'm just saying it's childish, and if someone insults me because I bagged their precious thread, then too bad, they're childish too. So I agree with D4E... and remember, I'm not insulting the people that post there like ants to honey, but I'm insulting the thread because I believe it's a waste of bandwidth and a waste of people's time. Sorry, but threads like that aren't "fun" to me. And to the people that think otherwise, HOW are they fun?

Besides, there's always TWO sides to an argument for those who are angry for what I said. I mean no ill feelings, but that thread deserves at least SOME open criticism.

Yeah I see Thrawn's point, but I see threads where people complain about their threads being removed as just as childish and/or pointless, especially when they know very well that their thread will be removed before they even post it. But each to their own. :)

Whether we agree with them being removed or not, they will be.

And in answer to the question, yes I think threads should be removed without notice if they are posted just to stir things up.

I feel there is a large difference between having posts removed, and contributing to a post.

If the post is a diliberate attempt to abuse someone for no reason, fine, have it removed. However, when someone critises a mod, and has that post removed, that is just not on.

My p.o.v.
