Gee i dunno, wouldnt you be more worried your boss will see a Melbourne address on the certificate when you live another state? Maybe he would have no power to do anything about it but surely your just playing with fire.

Just a question, if I ask for a medical certificate, would I be ruled unfit to fly? The reason I ask this is that I'm going to take a sickie to go to the Saints-Doggies game on Friday Night, BUT I've just realised that if I do take Friday off (I have a rostered day on Thursday, so no questions will be asked then) being a day before a public holiday then I'll be required to get a medical certificate for the next day in order to get paid sick leave. So if I go to a Melbourne doctor to get a med cert on the Friday, will I be told that I won't be able to fly back to Qld on Sunday?

Follow these steps

• Get a statutory declaration from a post office
• Write that you were too sick to attend work
• Get it signed by a Justice of the Peace

SLF I don't think doctors can refuse to give you a medical certificate.

They most certainly can refuse. Whether they are likely to is another matter.

I feel bad when I use sick days when i'm really sick - as i'd rather use them on cricket days.

Yep same feeling here, i recently got offered a permanent position and the first thing that came to my head was Boxing Day i'll be at the cricket and a paying day that too.

sick days at my work used to keep going year after year.now they stop after the year is up (l think).a few years a go l broke my ankle playing footy and had 5 weeks off sick which was better than using my holiday leave.l took a sicky the other week l felt bit shite but still could of worked so l stayed home and watched the footy.
