Just a question for when signing legal documents (e.g. tax file number forms, etc), do you have to sign including your last name? Or can it just be a first name with the last name initial?
E.g. Dan.H instead of Dan Harris.

Hi Dan. I'm sure if you just write "Give me the schiznit, bitch!" You will be fine.

It's your signature. You can sign what you want AFAIK. I mean consider how many people's signatures are incomprehensible to start with.

EDIT: And people whose signatures are initials!

Are you serious, or taking the piss?

If you're serious, then yes you have to sign your surname in full, you can just put the first letter of your given name, but you have to sign your whole surname.

Unless you tell them you're illiterate, then they will probably accept an "X" in place of a signature. :D

You can put whatever you want. Not like they can read it anyway. Aslong as all of your signatures are the same it's all good :thumbsu:

exactly. If your normal signature is signed say knife w then put that.

just don't put knife w on one and then knife wrench on another because if it is disputed at a later date then there could be potential problems.

businesses expect that signatures alter for sure in regards of cursive slant and so forth but in terms of actual composition thats when it can get iffy.

Im studying contracts at uni atm and i've never heard of a certain method of singature. as long as it is recognisable as a signature you'll be fine.

A signature must contain your last name and at least an initial of your first name.

The only person in the Commonwealth who can sign their name as just their first name is the Queen.

It must eh? Your signature can just be a little squiggle like a doctor does it if you want. It's whatever you make it, but you would want to make one and keep with it than changing it always... I've never had my signature include my full name for a few years, and I've signed for my credit card, fuel card, papers for a house etc like that... Meh, lol.

Your signature can be whatever you like. My sig has nothing resembling any part of my name.. As long as it is roughly the same every time who cares what kind of scribble you sign off with.
