Edwards switched from Gaelic football to Australian rules last year.

Edwards played in the AFL London women’s competition with Wandsworth Demons before her first season in the SAWFL with Adelaide University last year.

“I wasn’t too keen on the tackling side of the game at first,” Edwards, 27, says.

“But I gave it a go and it’s become one of my main passions.

“She’s a booming kick, kicks left and right, kicked multiple goals from outside 50 this year, which is very rare in women’s footy,” Eastern Devils coach Brendan Major said.

“From a blueprint standpoint, she is pretty much the prototype footballer that you want — moves well, big body, uses both sides and doesn’t have that many bad habits.”

Fascinating stuff, women's footy. An international recruit who first played AFL in the UK! The competition keeps serving up surprises, and there's so much to anticipate for the second season. Cant wait for the games to start.
