Can't be bothered digging up the original thread, but thought i'd make a point of this.

Everyone was talking about the good & bad of the minute/30 second silence and how some people were disrespectful for talking through it, or yelling or whatever the case may be...

I was watching Tottenham V Leeds in the soccer last night, and they had a minutes silence for the Queen Mother...

Now THAT is a minutes silence. No one spoke, no one coughed, no one sneezed, it was dead silent.

If you get a chance to see it on the news, give it a look, it'll make the hair on your neck stand up on end...

(similar situation when Princess Di died & at Anfield for Hillsborough)

Well its good to know that some people have the respect to actual be silent in the minutes silence.

I hope in the future Aussie Rules supporters can pay the same respect when it is needed.

The Queen mother had the respect and love of many in that nation so it is no suprise that the minute silence was observed as well as it was.

It would have to be someone very important to get a minutes silence in Oz. I could only think of it happening for someone as important as a legendary sportsman.;)

Yeah unfortunately I think you're right.

Personally, I am quite happy to shut up for 30 seconds to pay respect to anyone. :)

You weren't getting the same feed as me mate.

After a while someone shouted something out, then another guy went off his rocker telling him to shut the fu*k up, then somone told them both to shut up, and then a big shhhh happened and they all shut up..

Can't believe you didnt notice that.

it's only after that silence that the soccer fans must bring out the knives & guns and flare bombs
