Making Supercoach trade for Jobe I started pondering the 'upside' of this injury. First disclaimer is that NO injury is good and no injury to our 'star' player and captain is ideal however these things will happen. I don't think it will affect our season that much for these reasons:

Only likely to miss 4 games according to sources - clean break that is recovering well. So Jobe misses against WB and GWS which I think we will win regardless. Misses against Hawks which makes the job harder FOR SURE, however I was always 'expecting' a loss in this game.. so it doesn't really affect our ladder position as much regardless. The only 'big' game that will hurt is that Jobe misses the game against C'Wood. However missing 1 important game is 'coverable' imho.

Not a soft tissue injury and therefore unlikely to lose much fitness. Jobe is already back on the spin bikes and will be back into normal 'fitness' training as of Monday so I would expect him to be relatively match fit when he comes back. Better than a muscle injury etc etc where you need to rebuild the strength and fitness base. Also will be able to do skill drills within the next 7 days.. so won't lose much touch either. Jobe should slot straight back in almost immediately once cleared for 'contact'.

Jobe gets to avoid the worst of the 'controversy' after his OTC appearance and by the time he comes back I expect we will be close to knowing what is happening. Hopefully gives everything time to simmer down and take the sting out of it. Could be good for Jobe and the team to start to get their minds ready for finals footy.

Gives Jobe's body a bit of a break and still leaves 3-4 really good 'hit-outs' to get him cherry ripe for finals.

So all up I think that if these things have to happen.. you couldn't have asked for a better 'twist' if you like. Plus hopefully it gives some other guys some leadership experience and that should hold us in good stead for the finals as well. I think their is some silver lining to this and I am confident (for the first time in many years) that our club will be able to maximise this negative to gain the best advantage for the overall good...

yes but now idiet say Jobe only got so many vote in brownlow this year because he no do drug

Not sure about that. I think that an injury like that will play on his mind for the rest of the season and effect the way he approaches potential contact. For a major ball winner that will greatly effect his output.

Of course there is the giving other people a go at different roles and those who have been working hard in VFL the opportunity that they deserve.

Yes, I guess the 'fear' factor does come into a broken bone scenario.

However surely the same as not wanted to stretch out a sore hammy?

Fair point though.

Oh.. and not expecting losses is just ummm.. well very optimistic of you!

Jobe won't be affected by the injury on return, he has no fear.

Jobe once broke the sound barrier.

In half.

I'm not saying that I don't believe we will lose another match. Just that I don't think there is a match we aren't a genuine chance in.

I agree.. for the first time in 12 years I agree that we 'can' beat any team in the league on any given day.

I guess Hawthorn is the only game that I don't believe that we start 'favourite' for.. imho. All the other games I personally believe we should be favourite and should win.

GWS for sure, but we have beaten C'Wood already and I think we match up on them well and they are playing patchy footy so we can double up, Richmond and Carlton are soft and I think we will again smash them, Norf is norf and WCE are a shadow of last year and will be out of finals and therefore winnable.

Anyway.. I guess for the purpose of this post, I was just meaning that if the injury is only four weeks (which my sources say is likely and on track thus far) then there is only one 'should win' game that will be effected by Watson's absence.

If we beat Hawthorn it will be a great bonus..
