He has given carlton all he has, which, sadly,is not much.

On a serious note he has being a solid contributor and like many other players was a much stronger contributor when the blues has a decent team. There are certainly a lot worse palyers who have played for longer than Flecther.

He needs to build up his frame and speed to find another home.

If another club picks this guy up instead of giving a youngster a go, honestly AFL clubs have lost the plot.

Then again, Brittain and Richmond have resigned Fleming up again

You dont understand that greg miller is the mecca of all football admnistrators and will turn our once mighty great club back into a powerhouse. You can hold onto your faint hopes having recruited 7 duds from other clubs. hmmmm morell, teague, clarke, Mcgrath, scotland.... well, household names and these are the players who will take carlton to the top of the table.

Gee.....aren't you happy your mecca grabbed "ONE" player (Nathan Brown).

Itistheblood........we have traded 5 startups, Scotland, Teague, Morrell, McGrath, and Clarke. Those five alone would make your team a final 8 let alone including our prized recruite from the Preseason draft :p .

You keep feeling good about your team administration........it's always a good summer if you think positive.

PS. How did Blumfield go this year

Actually heard around the traps that he and Ottens are wageing bets on who can improve more on 2003 efforts.......Then again that's not fair as Ottens doesn't have much to beat.:D

Is that the best you can do???

I'm sure if you had the choice bewteen Ottens and fat farm whitnall you'd grab the big "O" in a flash. By the way? Who's going to be your captain next year?? Oh hang, Mckay still hasn't made his mind up has he. What's he waiting for? The end of the world???

I think you'll find that McKay will signon within the next couple of days........Whitnall will be the next Carlton captain in 2005 and the next Ottens (Angwin) is already down at Blue Land.

The question should be; when will Richmond become a consistent finalist again  and not what other teams are doing.:)

McKay

Maybe he's just waiting for Richo to quit your club and nominate for the PS draft. Then we'll pick him up with our no. 2 pick and make him Captain...

Wait on... that's not very realistic... no club in their right mind would make Richo captain, would they?

Hang on. what do we have here?? Another fantasyland carlton supporter?

Just goes to show how opposition supporters are so envious of a man who's kicked nearly 600 goals AND has missed 3 seasons of football thru injury AND takes the most marks in the AFL more than anyone else over the last few years. No fat farms for Richo!!!
He may not be captain material but I'd rather have him than not.

But you've got so many options...
Yet he was made Captain...

Something's not adding up...

You're obviously too stupid to undestand what's going on mate.
We made him captain to help him improve is mental approach to the game. At least we are proactive and try to help our players. Not like this;

No respect" as Blues axe seven
Rebecca Williams
22oct03

CARLTON premiership defender Glenn Manton has fired a parting shot at the Blues, questioning the club's values and lack of respect after he was delisted yesterday.

Manton was one of seven players who were told their services would not be required at Optus Oval next season.
The 30-year-old managed just five senior games in 2003, continually overlooked by coach Denis Pagan in favour of veteran full-back Mick Martyn.

Manton's delisting is part of a massive clean-out at Carlton, with the Blues also showing the door to Andrew Eccles, Simon Fletcher, Scott Freeborn, Adam Mathews, Andrew Merrington and Jim Plunkett.

That followed the Blues off-loading Justin Murphy, Matthew Allan, Corey McKernan and Simon Beaumont in last week's trade period.

From a starting list of 37 this season, Carlton has now turned over 14 players after the retirements of Brett Ratten, Adrian Hickmott and Martyn, the trades and axings.

Pagan and his football department have clearly taken drastic action in reaction to another horror season – in which the uncompetitive Blues won just four games – and rumblings of internal discontent among the players.

Pagan's first season at Carlton was plagued by reports of widespread player disenchantment, particularly among the older Blues.

Manton, who played 157 games for the Blues after crossing from Essendon, suggested yesterday he had not been shown enough respect in his final season with the club.

"I just think that maybe the levels of respect that were shown this year probably weren't as high as they could have been," Manton said.

"But having said that, I'll just move on and allow that to inspire me in other things that I do in life.

"I think if the Carlton Football Club can improve their moral values, that will help the club move forward and be stronger in the coming years.

"I just think they (moral values) could be improved."

Manton also said the Blues had not acted quickly enough to inform the players who were going to be delisted, to give them an opportunity to put themselves on the market.

"I think like me most of them would have expected to be delisted," Manton said.

"It's just a shame that the club chose to allow it to wait so long to tell those kids about their futures, rather than coming after the end of the year and allowing them the chance to move on with their lives a bit quicker."

Manton said he was not ready to give football away just yet and would try his luck in next month's national draft.

"I had a fair idea I would be delisted six months ago, so I've had time to think about my options and I'll nominate for the draft and see what comes of that," Manton said.

"Should that not pan out as I'd like it to, I'll then explore every sporting option that's available to me because one thing that's become very clear . . . sport's not something I'm prepared to walk away from just yet.

"I've certainly put some feelers out . . . it's just a matter of finding a niche and finding where your services are required."

Carlton football manager Col Kinnear said tough decisions were necessary for the club's future.

"We had our trade last week and we had to make room for those players," Kinnear said.

"We're heading for a change in personnel . . . and we're looking forward to commencing 2004 with possibly 30 per cent of the players who are new players at the club.

"That's the start of what we've got to do and where we're going for the future to build the club up to the next level for success."

Kinnear acknowledged the contribution of the departing Blues, in particular Manton.

"To play in a premiership side is everybody's goal, and that's a wonderful achievement that Glenn's able to take away," Kinnear said. SACKED
