i heard on the grapevine he's being considered as a full forward option, plan b or c.
makes some sense if he can kick straight, at the very least he'd take a good lead & can hold a contested mark.

He could play a similar role that Brad Johnson plays at the bulldogs - same size, plays with the same heart and passion and plays a similar type game

Yeah but thousands of country and metro footballers fill this bill - but lack ability - He's nowhere near Brad Johnson and it's an insult to suggest he is! (as much as he annoys me)

Johnno annoys you? Or Wiggins?

How can Johnno annoy you?

Hands down my favorite AFL players from other clubs the past decade have been Glenn Archer and Johnno.

Then again, I grew up in the western suburbs, played against Hoppers Crossing many times and knew the legend that was Johnno before he ever truly made it in the AFL.

Johnnp's a one of a kind champion. There will not be another. I hope hje gets to taste premiership glory before he calls it a career - probably at the end of this coming season though the way he keeps his body could play another two (or three). Immaculate condition just like Braddles used to be (why he could play until he wanted to quit; not that he'd have the Bulldogs over the barrel).

As far as Wiggo goes -- heart and soul. Even if he doesn't play clubs need guys like that around the place. I don't for a second think that the club struggles with him out there. In fact, I believe he strengthens the team. People look at the negatives when he's on the field, but in fact the guy contributes at an amazing level. His value is infinitely higher than his skill level. He brings out the best in his team-mates on and off the field. I hope he has a good 2010 even if he doesn't get many opportunities!

at the very least you know he'd make the leads, take the hits & keep a quality defender tied up. even as a decoy he'd be a decent back up option for full forwards imo.

I recognize his endeavour and heart - doubt that that's ever been questioned. But like some other posters, I feel that if he's in our 22 then we haven't progressed as we would like to think we have.

Are you shitting me  IMO He is a lot closer to BJ than you think. Particularly after last season. BJ had a fricken shocker. If the chief hadn't got himseld injured he would of easily surpassed Your revered Mr Johnson. I think they are at exactly the same point in their careers.

Mate - it's you who's deluded - ask some of your friends who are not Carlton supporters, perhaps have a conversation with some AFL players, media, and come back to me if ANY of them agree with you.

Well your an angry little one. Obviously don't like people expressing a different opinion to yours I see.

Please point out where I said that you were delusional?
What exactly do you want me to ask them to agree with?
>That he is as good a BJ?
>His and BJ's career are at the same point?
>BJ had a shocker of a year?

Remember Alice these are only my opinions. Take a chill pill and relax.:thumbsu:

Guys you can't seriously be comparing Simon Wiggins to Brad Johnson.

Johnson is class, even though he is aging. Wiggins has been a battler throughout his career at best, and still is.

I was talking about only last season. IMHO BJ had an ordinary season and if the chief had not got injured, with the form he was displaying he would have surpassed Johnson.

But it's just my opinion. I dont expect a lot of people to agree with it.

Wiggins hit bad form before he got injured and it was likely he was going to be dropped anyway. He and Cloke hit some very average form mid season and the club struggled for a stretch of 5-6 weeks as a result.

Brad Johnson, regardless of his age, was still better than what Wiggins could produce last year. No contest imo.
