Fair dinkim you lot, we got 4 points from the game, delete it from your foxtel IQ and move on to next week. WE are already ahead of the game with the surprise win against the dogs. 2-0. WE played bad and won, I'll take that and move on thank you very much. Everyone just needs to chill and at the end of rd 22 when we have the home final advantage because the 4 points got us into the top 4 you can say thank goodness we won that Melbourne game.

I'd make 1 change next week Dawes in for Anthony, Jack needs to find some form.

p.s I thought Thomas did ok today, he is going to be a player like lockyer, not our best but will bust a gut to have a go. Have you seen the way he runs. Just because he was a high draft pick doesn't mean if he is not a champion he is a dud. Daisey has a go, he may drift in and out and go missing for times but he puts in.

once again blinkers on you lot, watch the game again and see the turnovers he did today, all im saying this bloke has been in the system for a long time now
and the likes of beams and sidebottom have already passed him he cant think, just because he his a top 10 draft player that its going to happen for him,
he has loads of untapped talent and its time to start doing not waiting for it to happen.
I like daisy but it just frustrates me to hell of he is turning into a what if player, time to start producing, and I never said that his game was shit today just not good or excellent as you guys think , open both eyes and watch it properly
Out of curiosity, did you actually go to the match today?

25 disposals 14 kicks 64% effective 11 handballs 8 marks 7 uncontested 6 tackles 1 clearance 5 clangers 1 behind

those stats are just servicable thats all
now if you guys are really happy with those numbers , well then you only want mediocre players, well I dont I expect our 5 to 6 year players to step up another level

the 25 disposals is what I expect from Daisy week in week out his effectiveness should be higher clangers should be half tackles are good but you expect high tackles when you are chasing butts all day.

I posted this in another thread:

The skill errors weren't his fault. The Demons had a stack of loose men that made it a 2 on 1 situation no matter who it was kicked to.

I was sitting in the top deck and could see the whole ground. Our players wouldn't man up. What do you expect him to do when no one would lead? He has no other choice but to kick it to a contest.

There aren't too many occasions where u can legitimately say the umps won you the game. However today was one of them. There were 3 terribly bad umpiring errors in the final quarter close to the Melbourne goals that would have likely resulted in goals for us.

In reality this should have been a win for Melbourne, but the umps did indeed keep you in it in that final term. I've never seen worse in my life.

The umpires were totally inconsistent today, througout the game and to both sides.

There were two blatant holds in the Pies forward line that weren't paid in the first quarter. The first was to Medhurst in the goal square, the second was to Cloke from memory.

There was a ball up paid when a Melbourne player had taken on two Pies players, got tackled and dropped the ball. Then there was a holding the ball paid against a Melbourne player when he had legitimately got away a handball. Both were in the Pies forward line.

Their interpretation of holding the ball, holding the man & in the back was different every time the whistle was blown.

Terrible umpiring, no consistency, but it certainly didn't favour the Pies any more than it favoured Melbourne.

Again -why even mention Daisy when he was clearly one of our best today. The SEN team rated his game today and they were watching with an unbiased eye. The fact that you threw his name in today demonstrates a personal agenda. When he is bad I say so. Today he was fantastic. For every clanger you mention I'll throw in a gut busting chase which forced a turnover or a desperate tackle when his mates were sitting back waiting for a soft disposal. You need to have a closer look at the game.

25 disposals servicable? Mate it was the 2nd highest tally from our team.

He was great today, tackling and hassling the opposition, yeah he had a few clangers, so what? One of them was the gamesaving kick out of defence. Stats don't mean everything, if you watched him today he played well.

The constant apologising and self flagellation for our win today is really beginning to grate on my nerves. I don't recall any apologies coming our way when Essendon stole the Anzac game from under our noses last year. It was all f... you Collingscum" and we did nothing but rubbish our boys for losing the unlosable game.

I have seen us lose a number of Grand Finals in which we were clearly the better side for the majority of the game-no aplogies from Blues fans or Roos fans. Get over it. We were not good, but we won. Hooray for us. The grovelling , humble pie apologies from Pie fans on Melbournes forum are ridiculous. When they are a contender in 3 years time let's see how magnaminous we all feel if the Demons pip us at the post. I doubt any apologies will be headed our way.

I'm sure Blues fans still think they technically lost the 79 grand final cause the ball was out of bounds when Harmes belted it to Sheldon. They are still disgusted with the undeserved silverware in their cupboard. Yep-we really lost today cause Pettard should have marked what he dropped. Give me a bloody break!!

Perfect post! We are Collingwood, and WE won. If Melbourne deserved to win, they would have. **** 'em!

That was one of the most gutless performances I've ever seen by the Black and White team. Disgraceful they got away with it.

However they got 4 points in the end, but if we even think of think of playing like this next we'll be a laughing stock.

All this talk about Premierships and they put in a gutless performance against the wooden spooners, I don't think any of the coaching staff would be too happy with that performance - would love to read his weekly email this week.

Let me give you a few factors which contributed to today:

1. People have forgotten that this mob almost rolled us at the start of last year after getting 6 goals up in the first quarter. Their risky / nothing to lose style of play has exposed us multiple times before.

2. They had one of their most decorated players of this decade playing his 200th.

3. They got a ribbing all week from the media.

4. They hate us.

5. They are ahead of us fitness wise because they know they are not going to be playing in September and hence will aim to peak earlier.

6. After playing the Bulldogs at the dome last year we came out the following week and ran out of gas in the second half.

7. If you were at the ground you would have noticed that 3/4 of our team was getting a rub down by the first quarter. They were physically buggered for whatever reason and I believe Mick alluded to last week during his presser.

8. To make matters worse we had 1 less on the bench in the second half and lost our BOG to that point.

AND

9. NO PRESTI and O'BREE - why have supporters not picked this up? - two of the most important yet underrated players in our side

10. No side, Cats included can be 1 or 2 % below their best against any side in the AFL whilst their opponent plays at their best

" A WIN IS A WIN IS A WIN IS A WIN!!!!!" - I'll take a WIN any day and unlike most posters here, I don't care about the "style" of the win. We will win ugly and win well during the year. Enjoy the ride.

Yes but using 'disposals' or 'possessions' as a barometer for how well someone played against someone else is always dangerous. It's not the number of posessions at all....it's what's done with them. And from what I saw today Thomas helped Melbourne along quite nicely.
But maybe you have vision problems. He had 25 possessions, including ten that were contested, and 8 marks and 6 tackles. While his disposal efficiency was only 64%, he was far from terrible and he certainly helped Collingwood more than he helped Melbourne, and he beat Scully. Brad Green was Melbourne's best player even though he had 62% efficiency, while Aaron Davey was Melbourne's highest possession winner with 27 at only 67% efficiency. There were Collingwood players that were down and nearly cost us the game, but Thomas wasn't one of them.
There aren't too many occasions where u can legitimately say the umps won you the game.
That's not true. They missed plenty for both teams, including a few for Collingwood within goal range. I believe the people that feel Melbourne were hard done by are Melbourne supporters and the opposition supporters that were passionately hoping that Collingwood would lose. The umpires did not have a direct effect in the result. It appears you see things quite differently though, so are these glasses strong enough for you? ;)
