Watched the game on Justintv from Santiago Chile and am mighty pissed off I stayed up to watch that insiped effort from our boys today.

We were simply in no way as desperate as Melbourne was to win the game and some of the errors were laughable.

Happy to get the 4 points but we are in for a rough few weeks if we dish that shit up again.

They are the most sour 4 points I've ever seen. Disgusted my our performance... disgusted at many, many players... the Saints will beat us by 80 points next week if we play like that.

I was a huge fan of recruiting Jolly... but really, two weeks in a row he has been smashed. Gotta lift Daz.

And very disappointed for Ben Johnson. Was playing excellent footy prior to his injury today. I know I called for him to be dropped [now I wish he was] just to get Beams in, but he is a big loss for us.

Totally agree... I've never been this angry after a win before...
SHOCKING!!!! They should now have been allowed to sing the song!

Yep missed Obree big time. That should shut the cheesy haters up. The centre clearances would have to have been 110 - 70 melbourne.

Going to go have a few beers and let MM worry about the next week. We took away the four points unlike carlton and melbourne so yeah be unhappy but realise its not all bad

am mighty pissed off
Why? Collingwood won. It was a poor performance, but there were a number of contributing factors that led to that.
Happy to get the 4 points
You should only be happy to win. How anybody could be pissed off about winning is beyond me. A disappointing, unimpressive and fortunate win no doubt, but it was a win.

No mention anywhere of how poorly Luke Ball played today. The 774 commentators singled him out for criticism, particularly the lack of depth in his kicking. Our two boom recruits are looking a bit ordinary at the moment.

Terrible all round. Did not deserve to win, the Dees were stiffed. Is Anthony still a 'decoy'? We might as well put a bag of spuds at full forward if this is what he'll play like all year.

If you´re happy witht the shit we dished up today just because we got the 4 points then I suggest your expectations are a little low.
I´m not suggesting we should have smashed them by 100 points but a team that is starting to talk premierships should´ve accounted for an inexperienced team missing some of their topliners a bit easier than that.

Please elaborate on the contributing factors that led to our poor performance.
All our topliners played, for once we can universally say that the umpires were on our side and Melbourne probably had more of their top 22 players out than we did.

I am happy that the 4 points ¨won¨today mean that the win last week wasn´t in vain but apart from that theres really nothing else to cheer about.

anyone who is happy today, have blinkers on.
time to put a rocket up daisy's arse, he simply just dosent do enough
Beams and Sidebottom has passed him already and they are only in their 2nd year.
I will say that today was an abborration because our form has been good , but by geez we have the saints hawks bombers and carlton to come we need to bring back last week's intensity if we are any chance against the saints
Davis Dids Cloke Anthony & Medhurst need to stop watching and attack with passion to hot and cold one week to the next
Cant wait for Rusling to be fit and ready to play seniors again
Not happy but glad we escaped with a win which we didnt deserve to win

I appreciate that others see the game differently but I personally thought Thomas was fantastic today. Put his body on the line many times, tackled, chased and generally applied great pressure. People expect him to be our best player whereas I don't think he ever will be. He will just be a very consistent and solid contributor.

Did we win?

YES.

Are we 2-0 with a percenatge of 120?

YES.

Shut up, relax and enjoy the season, we were lethargic, soft and well below our best, but we were playing Melbourne.

We lifted when we had to, and fought the game out in the last 10 minutes.

A game to forget, but just remember that the goods sides win even when they bad, and that's what we did today.

Onto the Saints, we will play better next week, but 3 6 day breaks in a row don't exactly help.

Not with it today. Hopefully that will serve as a rocket to the players. Obviously dissapointed with the ruck division. Ball/Jolly cant believe what they seved up. Bring back Monkey for christ-sake! My vent goes on the constantly underperforming Fraser, Cloke, Anthony. Will be at the St Kilda game next week. Needless to say I'm worried.

How did Simon Buckley go ?

Wow throwing out an excuse already...

6 day breaks are pretty common place for most sides.

I know I should be pissed about that game but actually I'm not. Melbourne played well, we were flat, and one of our match winners (Leon, supposedly we don't have any) took the game away from them at the end.
So all in all we'll forget about this effort pretty quickly and it might actually be the best preparation going into the Saints game.

Hi Steph - hope you are well

Because St Kilda have Collingwood next week I too am interested in your excus..... sorry contributing factors as to why Collingwood put in a poor performance today

Thanks for your time - I look forward to your reply

Cheers :)

I'm happy to get the four points. I'm never unhappy with a win. I think Collingwood is capable of winning the premiership, but I don't expect anything from anybody, otherwise it can lead to disappointment.

Absolutely. No doubt about it. It was a very poor effort, and a very fortunate win. With nine minutes left and an eleven point deficit, I didn't think we were going to win, so I'm happy that we did. With a few seconds left, it looked like Melbourne were going to kick the winning goal, but they didn't, so I'm happy about that. Supporters of all other clubs were pissed off that Collingwood won, and I'm happy that they feel that way. I'm just a positive person I s'pose.

Last week's match was a torrid an opening to a season as there has been for a while. Much of it was played at an exhilarating pace, and it was hard to back-up after six days with a player short for much of the match. Melbourne were determined to throw everything at us this week after their non-effort last week, and they were pretty fresh because they didn't spend energy last week. Collingwood may have been thinking about St.Kilda a week early, but now they have a week to regroup after a win which is a lot better than the loss it looked like it was going to be.
All our topliners played, for once we can universally say that the umpires were on our side and Melbourne probably had more of their top 22 players out than we did.
Melbourne should have won the match. Collingwood believed they could win without getting out of second gear. They were almost wrong.

I'm certainly not cheering about the win, but I'm happy to get the the four points. There is nothing to be pissed off about though unless the players don't realise how lucky they were and improve on that.

The Collingwood supporters that are accepting this 'win' (if you want to call it that) should really think more about what they're saying.

It goes deeper than just 'a win'.

This year, we've already been banging on about being genuine contenders. We're so far from being contenders off today's effort it's not funny.

We only won because Petterd decided to drop a mark he'd been taking all day. We lost that match in all reality.

That match basically showed that nothing has changed. St.Kilda and Hawthorn are going to pants us so hard.

It's going to be embarassing.

There aren't too many occasions where u can legitimately say the umps won you the game. However today was one of them. There were 3 terribly bad umpiring errors in the final quarter close to the Melbourne goals that would have likely resulted in goals for us.

In reality this should have been a win for Melbourne, but the umps did indeed keep you in it in that final term. I've never seen worse in my life.

I was a huge fan of recruiting Jolly... but really, two weeks in a row he has been smashed. Gotta lift Daz.
couldnt agree more - being beaten in the ruck 2 weeks in a row is something fraser could easily do by himself.

And very disappointed for Ben Johnson. Was playing excellent footy prior to his injury today. I know I called for him to be dropped [now I wish he was] just to get Beams in, but he is a big loss for us.
he was ok last week but was far from playing "excellent footy" today.

...And boy did we miss Obree. SMASHED at the stoppages.
sad - but true. ball has not stepped up to be our better version of o'bree yet.

Like most here, pretty disgusted with that "win", one that we did not deserve. Despite all the talk of not being complacent, it looked like we turned up and expected to win without actually doing anything. Melbourne really turned up and looked desperate, where as we looked uninterested, lethargic and soft. This season we can't afford to turn up to games like that not with opposition such as the sts, geelong, wb and hawks. If we are premiership contenders, where the hell was the desperation?

I expect some big changes this week, our 2 key forwards were next to useless again. Fraser was woeful. Jolly and Ball so far have not performed their roles or met the expectations of being "game winners".

Definitely not happy with this performance and expect a major improvement next week, anything less Rnd 1 intensity will be unacceptable. In regards to being contenders, it is time for our actions to consistently do the talking, not our mouths.
