I know Kade has been playing great footy but is anyone else concerned with his lack of willingness to kick on his right foot? It is fine if he is free and runs onto the left but I have noticed him getting caught on the right side and trying to stop and turn back in. If he is to go to the next level I believe this is something that he must adress.

Good point,
very one sided by foot,
only going to the left side tends to make him predictable,
but still has turn of pace to counter atm,
it is something he has to develop to become an elite.

he still has time to develop his right foot, its not our biggest concern- but ofcourse it would be good if he worked on it. players can survive with just 1 foot though, look at scotty lucas, also pretty much just left footed but he does all right

Yeh I agree and I notice the same thing too, lately it is happening more and more.

More often or not, it will also bugger us up as well - a turnover, or a missed opportunity if he used his right foot.

However, in the rare times he does use his right foot, he does hit the target. I haven't seen him miss kick it on his right foot.... when he does use it.

Something else I have noticed with Simmo the last couple of games, is when he gets the ball in the centre for example, he will run out wide straight away. He should be trying to go down the guts.

I would like to call this constructive critiscm.

i dunno bout running straight down the guts, probably runs into space (out wide) to avoid being tackled as the centre corridor is usually crowded. We wish he could glide past all the tacklers like judd but i dont think he has the speed or strength to break through them time and time again.
Oh this is also contructive criticism dont worry im not a hater

For some reason, most lefties are pretty poor on their right. The only one that springs to mind in recent memory is Schwass, who was reasonable on his right.

This is something he can work on over the summer, but I wouldn't be overly concerned about it. This kid IMO could be anything.

Lets not worry about it just yet fellas. This has no doubt been his breakthrough season and we dont want his natural ball-winning ability hampered by criticism of his inability to kick on his right boot.

He obviously knows about his strengths and weaknesses and will work on these over the pre-season. Be ready to see a more willing Kade Simpson on his right foot next season.

As a fellow "lefty" i know that simnply having a favouritism on the left can confuse most others who expect the strength to come from your right side. So he's probably still coming out ahead.

Lefties traditionaly struggle on their right because in their natural kicking action (left foot) most left footers tend to ark around before they kick.... which isnt as efficient as a straight line, but the likes of dew, hodge, lucas have all proven it to be very effective. However this does make it very difficult when they try to kick on the opposite!

Right footers who tend to do this arc ( not many do, scotty camporeale is one example tho) also tend to struggle on their non-preferred pin.

I think simmos right foot is great for a left footer when his stuck on his opposite im always confident it will hit his team mate with ease. His probly the best opposite footer in the team.

Respect your opinion but do not share your confidence with his right. He looked especially uncomfortable last week against the Bombers. Would think also that Whitnall, Thornton and Houlihan immediatly spring to mind as being better on their opposite sides.
