What do we all think, did Skipper do enough to be retained for next week even if Hudson comes back into the 22?

If Hudson is fit he will play..

Nothing against Skip I thought he did well! But Hudson is a better ruckmen..

I think he should play. He should play as a lose man in defence to spoil buddy or roughy... He could also offer alot at full forward.

Skipper did nothing more than give someone else a rest on the bench. He dropped easy marks overhead etc. No second effort. He has been living on the fact we have no talls. BUT HE IS A DUD and not even servicable!

If he plays it should be as CHF. Don't think he will though. We will play without a CHF like we have all season, and for several seasons past and win as many flags as we have for several seasons past.

Will pray all week that Huddo is OK. If we have to rely on Skipper we're in deep strife.

Thanks for your service Wayde, but I'm afraid your time has come.

Wight offers us more ATM and that's saying something:eek:

Although, the Cats are Skipper's bitches so maybe he can be our secret weapon:p

Wouldn't have thought he'd keep his spot with a (hopefully) returning Hudson. Didn't think he'd showed much to prove he can step staight into a final.

Obviously didn't impress Rod Nicholson in the Sunday Sun much. Mentioned in his article that it was in fact Peter Street that took Hudson's place. My eyes must be playing up if I didn't see the gangly 7 footer running around at AAMI yesterday.

Funny I thought he played quite well yesterday. The conditions didnt really suit a big man and to be fair to him he's been injured and missed alot of footy. I can agree he may not be "finals ready", but to say he has nothing to offer next year I think is stupid.

Yes Skipper has plenty to offer next year and is most likely to be offering it in the WAFL or a subarban league somewhere.

He will not and should not be on the Dogs list for 2009 and his value in the trade won't even buy a tram ticket.

Has hopefully played his last game for the Dogs. If he gets a game in September we will have a serious injury issue.

Agree 100% to the first part of the post... The second part i think you are having a larf...
I have said all along that we should be grooming Wight as our backup ruckman, Street and Skipper are yesterdays news. Skipper at least is more likely to have an effect on a contest than Street but I doubt whether either would do any better than Wight or for that matter Everitt in the ruck.
Ruck isn't just tapwork nowadays it is the efforts around the ground that they are judged on. Tapwork is an incidental skill. Wight and Everitt of course will not win taps often against seasoned ruckmen but they have the engines to follow quite well.
Particularly Wight, he seems to have very good aerobic capacity. If Huddo out next week I would play Wighty on the bench and use him as the pinch hitting ruckman to relieve Big Will, can always use him to plug holes elsewhere if needed also. But you can't get the capacity for other jobs from Streety and barely can you for Skipper. Perhaps Skipper at full-forward/chf in an absolute emergency

I'd prefer not to have Minson play in the finals, but Skip didn't do enough yesterday.

Real shame he was injured at the start of the year - last year he saved his spot on the list with some great performances and the only chance he gets this year is in conditions not suited to someone of his size.

Err why?

I'd prefer we had a more reliable backup ruckman who doesn't give away free kicks at the worst possible moment. But he's the second best we've got so we'll obviously have to stick with him.

You obviously have some issues with pre-conceived ideas.

Minson has been doing very well of late and since the break he has really been our best ruckman. He is also taking more marks and being involved in general play to a much better extent.

He did have 4 frees awarded against him yesterday but three of those were dubious. He does seem to have eliminated the parts of his game that were causing problems.

He can have a real impact in the final series.

How many big guys played well in the slop yesterday?
