You obviously have some issues with pre-conceived ideas.

No, I just have worries about Minson's reliability.

Don't get me wrong, I think he will turn out to be a pretty good ruckman for us, but he makes as many cringeworthy errors (floaters, brainfarts and silly free kicks) as he does good things. In finals footy, that sort of stuff worries me.

When we are looking at who we want in, we really need someone who can contribute to our goal scoring chances. Will is regularly doing that and does have the competitive spirit to make a big difference.

Yes Skipper has plenty to offer next year and is most likely to be offering it in the WAFL or a subarban league somewhere.

He will not and should not be on the Dogs list for 2009 and his value in the trade won't even buy a tram ticket.

Has hopefully played his last game for the Dogs. If he gets a game in September we will have a serious injury issue.

Thats just dribble. Id love to know if you actually watched the game yesterday as he held his own yesterday. Talk about preconceptions theres no way your rant can be based on his performance yesterdau. Sure he might get squeezed out by Hudson our number one ruckman but he was a decent replacement yesterday.

We won't get anything for him trade wise so do you suggest we just let him go and then next year when Hudson or Minson goes down we play who? Surely Street should be first to go before Skipper. At least with Street we may get soemthing in return. Skipper is a handy backup and young enough to still become a solid player and fill gaps due to injury or until Ayce is up to it.

Well I did watch the game Saturday and again on replay Sunday. His provided nothing. Did get a few hitous but nothing to advantage and did drop one absolute sitter. I know the conditions were poor but his efforts were not up to the standard. He just has no presence.

Skipper has reached his use by date and has not done enough. He salvaged his spot last year with some reasonable efforts, but you cannot wait forever.

If we need to keep someone as a back up ruckman, while we wait for Ayce to develop we have Cam Wight with more to offer than Skipper. We would also be better to look for someone who can provide some quality through the PSD.
Heaven forbid we would be better resourced with Jeff White from Melbourne or even the Lazycock from Essendon.

Mate your post had credibility until you wrote that..

Wake up to yourself man!

Well if you compare their respective careers Skipper falls a long way short of the 2 I mentioned.

I am not suggesting we get either one (that's what the heaven forbid means), its just that Skipper is so far from being worthy of a place on the list.

I would love nothing more than to be proved wrong but Skipper needs a huge finals series with Williamstown to have any chance of retention.

Jeff White would give more than all our ruck stocks barring Ben Hudson. Jeff White has been in the seconds this year at Melbourne so what? They are going on a savage youth policy because they have to. His career compared to Minson, Street and Skipper is lightyears ahead. I cannot understand why people are so negative on Jeff White, sure his best years are behind him but I would have much more confidence in him than i would in Street and Skipper, probably Minson also. I think he would almost be worth gambling on in the psd and offloading Street and Skipper. Just to have him there to help young Ayce would be fantastic. I would hope we all think that we want Ayce to be athletic like White rather than lumbering like Streety.
I think White has much to offer and could provide us with 2-3 years of quality backup ruck work for next to nothing in outlay.

Wight offers us more ATM and that's saying something:eek:

Although, the Cats are Skipper's bitches so maybe he can be our secret weapon:p

You wouldn't think that if you watch Willy on the Weekend old apples Wight was at his best.

Skipper only chance of regaining his spot is if Huddo out, but then again Street might come in
